We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

The catholic leadership has a problem with this pope too. He is divisive. seeks publicity. makes controversial statements and, is a Marxist. I mean more Marxist than past popes who tend to embrace socialism. I think the Catholic hierarchy has had it with him but does not quite know what to do about it.

Impeachment and nobody came. Has anyone seen the ratings for the Judiciary committee Impeachment hearings? I can't think why they haven't been published.

Although I've seen no reporting on it yet, it seems to me that Trump has been rather systematically destroying the Democrat's diabolical funding machine since entering office: Reining in state and local prosecutors who use the sue-then-settle techniques against deep-pocketed companies and then directing the monies toward sympathetic NGO's who can be counted on for contributions in kind; Going after the Teacher's Union and education establishment; and finally going after the big name and big money bundlers that have been laundering money on a grand scale, like this bust. Accordingly, we see the Democratic Party complaining that its coffers are nearly empty. Can't wait to read the book on how this was done.

Agreed. In my era people said "Okay Gramps," to signal that someone was old and didn't need to be listened to. This is not a new phenomenon.

Every generation deserves both blame and credit. One can highlight whatever one wishes to attack or defend.

While I am sure that there are "normal" people on the left, most of the left is made up of activists groups whose single common characteristic is that they are opposed to someone or some group. That is they tend to be haters. It is politically correct to hate white people, to hate men, to hate America, to hate capitalism, etc. And haters gotta hate and often their hate flows over into the politically incorrect. The problem the left has is to overlook these transgressions in their base. Luckily for the left the media helps then hide it all, for the greater good of course.

How can you tell if a mouse has dementia? It's hard enough to tell if a mouse has "mentia", which I guess is the opposite.

It's not like they're going to start losing their keys or false teeth, or forgetting what year it is and whether they are still Vice President or not. These are good tells with humans but I don't see how it transfers to those little buggers.
