Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Regarding the tragic shooting at Pensacola, the US military for decades has trained foreign students, including Saudis and other Middle Easterners. The Pensacola base current has about 200 foreign students. The students are recommended by their nation's, military, vetted, and join in a variety of training. The local media (Pensacola News Journal) has some good details on the program.
"Officials confirmed the gunman was part of a long-standing training program that invites the “best of the best” from foreign allies’ militaries to receive training in the U.S. Specifically, the Navy International Training Center has several partnerships with other countries' militaries, including the Royal Saudi Air Forces. Among them is an undergraduate pilot basic aviation preparatory training course, a senior executive leadership course and a junior officer enhanced leadership course." Melania Trump sends coded messages to me, which I intercept with the fillings in my teeth. The voices. The voices.
I have noticed over the years that what democrats accuse Republicans of doing, they themselves have already done. When I was in my thirties and younger, I flat out rejected conspiracy theories. Now I am to the point I believe all of the conspiracy theories. Starting with LBJ and the FBI killed a president, to modern times of the democrats sending subliminal messages to radical kooks, unleashing them on killing sprees when the news cycle needs to take the focus off democrats loosing a political news cycle.
I was 20 YO when Kennedy was shot. It happened while I was at work about lunch time. That night a family friend who happened to be in the Mafia (yeah strange, I know) was at our house (he was often at our house, he was a close friend of my parents who grew up with him). I can remember my mother said "who would do that, who would shoot our president?" Without hesitation he said "Sam Giancana had him killed". My mother said "why?" to which he replied that Joe Kennedy made a deal with Giancana to get elected. Giancana would deliver Illinois to Kennedy and Kennedy in return would call off the DOJ. That was the deal. After winning office Kennedy went back on his word. In mob circles that is like committing suicide. So Giancana had him whacked, he had his paid off police contacts frame a "likely" sucker and then when the "sucker" threatened to tell his story Giancana had him whacked too.
We lived in So. California and the concern about mobsters, teamsters, etc. had already become commonplace. When Kennedy was killed almost immediately the response was mobsters. But, when the supposed assassin was also shot then we truly believed it was J.Edgar Hoover!
There is a new film on Netflix that is quite good. The Irishman has noted as fairly accurate in it's depiction of the relationship between teamsters, mobsters, Vegas, etc. It was good to see the entire chronology again. Too bad today's generation has not been taught the details of our most recent history. Does anyone here remember Geraldine Ferraro? She ran as vp with Walter Mondale. The night before the election the two of them had to run to Lake Tahoe for a "meeting". Everyone in California understood that to mean have a conversation with the Nevada mob. They lost that election, but Mondale returned as Governor of WI. He then went on to become the first state to allow casinos on Indian Reservations-- a sham of an excuse to allow gambling to leave the confines of Nevada. These were democrats directly connected to the mob. Today when I see Hillary, Nancy, and Diane I understand very clearly who runs this country. There used to be much talk about the old time Chicago mobsters--who had built up Nevada, were retiring. Their kids who took over the mob--Nancy, Hillary, Diane, etc. had their advanced degrees in business and were smart enough to run both the teamsters and the Nevada enterprises and the mobs like the large corporations they were/are. That generation--Geraldine's, Nancy's, Hillary's generation were among the "first daughters" to fit in this "third generation category". Do a search for information about Hillary's father/mother. Only one news report shows up and that was early in Bill Clinton's campaign. There was a mention that her father was "connected", but what he did was run a curtain making/re-upholstery business. You will be interested to note when that shows up in the film. I can only add that the family friend in the Mafia wasn't some braggart or low level Mafia guy. He was a voting member of the Boston Mafia and didn't "speculate" that Giancana killed Kennedy he was telling my mother that he knew it was going to happen because the Chicago mob had kept the Boston mob informed on it so they wouldn't be caught flat footed. I believe he knew it for a fact.
It's been nice knowing you. :)

1 billion to house the homeless...it isn't about the homeless, it is just another money trough for the well connected. Anything to keep that taxpayer money flowing to the proper people.
Fixing those terrible public school buildings...you don't even need a building to conduct education. It seems Warren wants nothing to change in education except to keep more and more money flowing to government teachers and administrators. How else are they going to keep feeding propaganda to the masses.
Arrest every homeless person camping, begging, crapping on public property and put them on a chain gang for a week to do something productive. I would bet dollars to doughnuts that the numbers of homeless would drop to negligible levels in a couple of months.
Yikes!! Fries are one of the four basic food groups.
Poor Potato Harvest May Lead To A French Fry Shortage Across The Country, Report Warns https://newyork.cbslocal.com/2019/12/03/potato-harvest-french-fry-shortage/ QUOTE: Overall potato production in the US is forecast to fall about 6.1 percent from last year I don't think a potato famine is imminent. Impeachment: Even the Dems know the best defense is a good offense, especially a full court press. It forces the adversary to consume its resources and gives the adversary no time to regroup and push back. In other words, an adversary, on the defense, has less ability to counter attack. (It's not unlike the battle against the radical Jihadists, after 9/11). The sneaky weasels who employ Lawfare know its purpose is to immobilize the adversary, as well as exhaust him/her mentally, physically, and financially. It probably would have worked, like a champ, on anybody but Donald Trump.
However, it is not just about impeding Trump on a day to day basis but tainting his judicial appointments. RE: California wildfires.
Just in regarding settlement and PG&E's responsibility https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-50697816 And where does PG&E get $13.5 billion? From the rate payers. This settlement will give lawyers about $5-$6 billion and cost rate payers $13.5 billion or more. This is a stupid and short sighted decision forced on the company and the rate payers by over zealous lawyers. Too bad.
For background it is commonly believed (or professed by the lawyers) that it was some kind of bad or ineffective maintenance that allowed the power lines to start the fire. It isn't true. The problem is the wind, simple as that. If you haven't been in the Santa Anna winds than you don't know. This will continue to be a problem as long as their is a California and there is no fix for it. It will be true next Fall, the Fall after that and every Fall for the next million years or so. The lawsuit will force the utility to shut down the lines whenever the Santa Anna winds threaten. That is California's future. NOT because of the utility or their failure to maintain. NOT even because California doesn't do a good enough job of cutting back the brush. But, rather because the lawyers have the ability to "sit" a jury of fools who would in fact without blinking an eye assess a trillion dollars damage to the utility. In the end PG&E will either disappear entirely or just disappear in California and replaced by a state government run utility. They won't do anything any better than PG&E did BUT with government immunity they won't get sued either. Good luck California! With currently the highest electric rates they are going to go higher. The Moral case: for all the hand waving about China not buying, we still seem to be moving a lot of product to the rest of the world.
That China has now removed or lowered their tariff on meat confirms they are in need, because of swine flu. Not because they are good trading partners. Seems to me, What ever deal is actually struck will be worse for the producer (a lower price) than the status quo. Because really, who is going to honestly agree on the other side of the deal, than to what you get today? "Pelosi: If We Don’t Proceed With Impeachment, We’re Letting Trump Act Like A King"
Yeah, that's right, a "king" who could be voted out next year. But if not, he'll still be gone forever on 20 January 2025 whether he likes it or not. That's quite the absolute monarch you folks have there! Everything just changed:
