Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Take away on the Impeachment Hearings. I think the problem for the Dems is that their case doesn't have a clear and uncontested "crime", upon which most people could agree. In addition, the public has to follow a long convoluted path of mind reading, inference, and hearsay to reach their same conclusion. Contrast that with the insinuations regarding Joe and Hunter Biden. There is nothing convoluted about them, understandable by any one over the age of 12. In a Senate trial, which one would be the most memorable and compelling?
I know the Dems had no choice and they were stuck with Schiff, but given his lack of appeal, never mind his utter lack of dignity and rectitude, he just doesn't inspire much confidence.
The entire impeachment scam is a multimillion dollar production that won't return a nickels worth of payback and will likely prove to the voters that professional politicians just plain suck and the professional deep state sucks even worse. Fire half of the deep state and limit their government careers to 6 years w/o benefits.
Lefties blame others for what they themselves did.
https://youtu.be/vCSF3reVr10 Good find; but, no matter how many times the left is caught like this, nothing ever comes of it.
It's as if, they don't know that millions of Americans have at least a Bachelor's Degree level of understanding of the rules of evidence, based on years of watching Law and Order or SVU. Jack McCoy often tries to cross the line.
Speaking of mind reading, what was up with Sondland? Did he pull back his testimony to dodge a perjury trap or did he really misinterpret the President's directions? This claim is credible to me, since I am a bad listener myself. I think it is all too human to not only hear what you want to hear, but to hear what you EXPECT to hear.
I think Sondland is no dummy. I too am a poor listener and have learned through life experience to give first impressions more weight than my other perceptions. I think Sondland was winding Short-Shrift-Schiff up a little and then letting him run with the line. It looked to me like Schiff took the bait and so did the press pool.
Maybe its just me, but I have a lot of problems with the reliability of recall over routine or mundane things. I watch a lot of police procedurals. I am always in awe when a suspect or witness can offer a detailed response to a question like where were you two weeks ago, Thursday afternoon around 4:00. (And yes, I realize that these questions have to be asked.) I am guessing I would have difficulty in offering a precise, coherent response just to that question, let alone what I may or may not have conversed about.
Shipping container housing costs $600,000 for each home...every California politician must be a Bideneer middle man in that spending fiasco.
Roundup:
Pretty soon, I think, we will see this commercial. Bates v. State Bar of Arizona started it. "If you have ever been to a doctor, taken a medicine or bought a product call this number. You are entitled to significant compensation". There is no privilege like liberal privilege.
To clarify what Peggy Noonan and other never Trumpers are missing: The common man is beginning to understand that they are being robbed. Their country, their assets and their jobs are being taken from them by the globalist elites. The illegal and legal immigration is a massive conspiracy to do exactly that by replacing them at the ballot box. You can see it in what all of the Democrat presidential candidates are saying. They are openly pandering to illegals and even to those want to be illegals who haven't crossed our border yet. They are eagerly offering up our tax revenues and our jobs if they will only vote for them. This has been true for decades now; the Democrats more aggressively pandering to illegals and the Republicans torn between wanting to aggressively pander and some unconscious understanding that the Democrats will win that effort no matter what they do. When you see the size and energy of Trump's rallys you begin to understand the power of this grass roots movement. Americans have been "dumbed down" or calmed down over decades of the good life and they are reluctant to risk all of this with some kind of activist political movement. BUT they have been awoken and If one of these "semi-American" Democrat candidates wins the presidency I am not sure the silent Americans will remain silent and give up their country without a fight.
The most important thing I've learned from the hearings is that Ukraine is a thoroughly corrupt place that we should have nothing to do with.
I learned that Ukraine is a piggy bank (cost shuffling schemes) for a lot of well connected people world wide.
Love Saul Bellow. He was stuck on "H" for a while; "Henderson the Rain King", "Herzog", "Humbolt's Gift". Intelligent and descriptive writing. He puts you there.
re 400-year-old shark found in the Arctic could be the oldest living vertebrate
According to reports, the shark measured 18ft in length. It is this length which reportedly can mean the shark can be anywhere between 272 to 512 years old, as this species grows at a rate of 1 cm a year. So they really don't know how old the shark is. The headline is just a dart board guess. |
