We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
In the beginning, I never thought that with all his warts and his tweets and all his rants and ravings that the broken human named Donald Trump could be God’s chosen instrument to try and mend this broken kingdom, but there he sits astride the world like some Strange Colossus.
Then again God chose the shattered Saul in order to get to that young unknown musician, David.
This feels like it comes from some supernatural place:
An Italian writing an opera about ancient Egypt. Is that multiculturalism, or is that cultural appropriation? Inquiring minds want to know. Some Muslims probably consider it blasphemy for pointing out that Egyptians haven't always been Muslims.
I can't understand why people are so critical of President Trump. You know, if President Trump wanted, he could just take it easy and do nothing; like President Obama.
The President is doing his best. That inevitably leads to controversy, because no action is neutral. His decisions create winners and losers. But nobody wants to give him credit for his work, because black people are professional losers. That's how they get paid. So they smear the President's reputation, because they are afraid to discuss the idea that people should actually work for a living. What would happen to Section 8?
Even more intriguing is how works of art take on a life and authority of their own, divorced from the intentions and circumstances of their creation. Like Keats we are left to say "that is all you know, and all you need to know.."
