We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Good for the Poles, refusing to support the cultural domination of the constantly-accusing, constantly-denigrating Left.

Bill Nye - Fake Scientist: "It's the strength [of these hurricanes] that's almost certainly associated with global warming"
Actual NOAA scientists: "It is premature to conclude that human activities — and particularly greenhouse gas emissions that cause global warming — have already had a detectable impact on Atlantic hurricane or global tropical cyclone activity"
Anyone over the age of 70 who lived on the East coast can tell you from memory that the hurricanes used to be much more common and more powerful in the 50' and 60's. This is significant because the meme back then was that because the climate was colder we must be entering an ice age. Ironically the sunspot activity is indicating that we may be entering a cooling period again. It seems very unlikely that our SUVs are causing the decrease in sunspots or that they caused the increase in the 80's and 90's.
"Caravan of 2000 migrants detained in Southern Mexico"

These are all Africans. The same Africans who live on less than a dollar a day. How did 2000 of them get to Mexico??? Who brought them there and why isn't THAT the real story. Is it George Soros? NGOs? China? Who?
To paraphrase something I read this past weekend, Ms. Warren is an unreliable narrator of her own autobiography.

SpongeBob: There are no idiots to compare with university professor idiots. They have it LOCKED UP. Comment also applies to "University program teaches faculty and staff how they ‘support racism and white supremacy’ "
Goodwin: Madness of leftist zealots. Just as bad as university profs.
Elizabeth Warren Is Jussie Smollett: The story can't be sufficient, so they made stuff up. My mom was a teacher, and the local Board of Education had a rule that she could not teach for five years after my brother was born. (That was many years ago.)
Puerto Rico: DANG! The Trouble was with Trible's!! (Not a Star Trek fan, but I did watch that episode.)
France: More Death to Free Speech: France has capitulated, and surrenders again.
re: Thomas Edison This is a nice article on Edison that discounts unwarranted criticism of the inventor.
The real injury to Tesla was perpetrated by George Westinghouse.
re: Thomas Edison. I agree that this is a good article in The Atlantic. Edison's Menlo Park laboratory complex was preserved by Henry Ford and moved to Greenfield Village, part of The Henry Ford museum in Dearborn, Michigan. The missus and I visited a year ago. It's outstanding. Well worth a visit. Blog notes about our visit here. Edison was one of Henry Ford's heroes.

I was born and raised near there (my dad worked at the Chrysler tank plant in Warren) and took a field trip in I think the 6th grade. The main thing I remember was the rock candy from the gift shop. 6th grade is too young to appreciate a history museum. Just right for appreciating rock candy, apparently.
