Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Remember when we used to have a gummint that worked FOR us, the people?
Yeah, me neither. re NBA Issues Another Statement Trying To Clean Up Appeasing China, China Drops Their Broadcasts
My guess is that to appease China, the NBA should have immediately insisted that the Rockets fire their GM. It will be interesting to see if the American backlash against the NBA shows up when the season starts. Somehow, I think the effect will be minimal. re Hillary Rockets Into 3rd Place On Predict It As Rumors Swirl Over 2020 Run
My Magic 8-Ball says, "Signs point to yes." One wonders how much longer she can sit on the sidelines when fundraising is such an important part of campaigning? Despite her numerous and well documented negatives, the Left may perceive her to be the most likely to beat Trump in the Democratic field. I think she'll run as a shield against investigation.
When Bidet drops out they'll blame it on DJT's "politically motivated" exposure of the slimy Ukraine business. Then HRC jumps in. If DJT/DOJ/etc. press ahead on any of her many likely crimes, she can cry foul and the media will claim that he's doing to her what he did to Bidet, trying to win through dirty tricks, hounding his opponents out of the race with investigations. And with the fraud factor this time around who knows where this thing ends? Hillary Clinton: 'Obviously, I Can Beat Him Again'
https://pjmedia.com/trending/hillary-clinton-obviously-i-can-beat-him-again/ I haven't seen an objective piece yet on the decline of the NFL as a consequence of its fiasco pandering to the SJW's guild. Some say that it's decline is a natural consequence of demographics. I note that there are still quite a few empty seats for nearly all NFL teams. The NFL used to be huge. I know that I lost interest completely as a consequence of National Anthem foolishness, but I was never a huge fan anyway. But given the lameness of the NBA response, I wonder if they are really paying attention? The SJW star that they navigate by is on the wane. They are faced with a choice, and so is their audience.
I'm not much of a sportsball fan, but here's my thoughts on the matter...
People watch these games in order to feel good afterwards. Win or lose, you root for your team and there's always next time. You WANT to feel proud of your team - they may be a bunch of incompetent klutzes, but they're at least TRYING to do better. But the SJW wokeness isn't designed to make you feel better. It's designed to punish, to hurt, to make you feel bad for your (to them) wrong decisions and choices. And people don't like that. They'll avoid it if they can, and if they look to sports for something to feel good... when they don't feel good afterward, or when they're offended by the constant actions of a 'star player' (which Kaepernick wasn't - I think the sorry SOB figured that by being controversial he wouldn't get cut because he couldn't make the grade) - they'll stop doing it. They'll stop paying money when all they get in return is insults. The NFL's taken a big hit - I've seen reports they're down by 30% - but that was a year or two back, don't know what it's at now. It may have recovered... or it may not have. The NBA's going to see the same sort of hit if they keep this up. They may think their fans are so loyal they won't care - but they're paying attention, and likely a lot more than the NBA thinks. The fanbase of the NBA is not quite the same as the NFL. The NFL has much more of the Real American fan: Reagan Democrats and Republicans. Those fans don't cross over as much to the NBA, they all left in the early 2000's when the NBA turned into the gang banger league. If the NBA loses 5% of it's fanbase, I will be very surprised.
CNN: "Next up we have climate change advocate Bill Nye, and Professor of Physics from Princeton University William Happer."
Fake scientist Bill Nye: "You are doing a disservice by having this man on." If they treated these "Migrant waves" as invasions (which they are) the problem would go away. These boats taking the "migrants" across the Med should be searched for and sunk. Do that half a dozen times and it would end. The migrants themselves should be met with fences and guns, climb or tear down the fence and get shot. Search for all illegal immigrants in country and take them in cuffs to waiting transportation back to the homeland. Repeat until the problem disappears.
There is no other choice that will actually succeed. Just one in the Obama/Clinton's long list of tragic errors. Qaddafi warned them: he was the only wall stopping mass migration out of Africa into Europe. Well, Cackcles can brag "We came, we saw, he died" to her heart's content, but Europe will never survive socially or economically with another wave.
I love the Trey Parker, Matt Stone non-apology! "We love money more than freedom and democracy." That says it all right there. Forty percent of America agrees. Give us our stuff, our government provided this that and the other, labeled as free, and we shall gladly welcome the yoke of oppression. Just keep calling it free!
If the Republicans were smart, I know, I know, they would already be showing the contrast in how the two parties respect the rule of law. NR used to be a good publication. They sold their souls, all because of Orange Man bad. I pay more attention to my toilet paper - after use - than NR. Trump has done more for liberty and America than anyone in my life time. More than my childhood hero, Mr. Reagan. Better dead than Red! World’s super-rich hit by private jet pilot shortage: Is Bummer, yes? Not for me.
NBA chief Silver stands firm as China backlash mounts: Good, if he can keep it up. At NR: They just haven't learned that they have nothing to say that we would read. Re: private jet pilot shortage
If there's a better exemplar of the term "First World Problem", I don't know what it could be. If I had to bet, I would give odds that Hillary will put her hat into the ring....even though she might not be the nominee. Power is a strong addiction and Hillary has shown she will do or say anything for another fix.
Ocasio-Cortez might be trying to abolish prisons so as to make sure she never ends up in one.
National Review does ask the right political question. Will the independents grow more frustrated with the Impeachers, or with Trump? Both committed sides actually draw energy from the conflict, but the less-obsessed could go either way.
It's an interesting question.
There's always a third (and fourth) choice. Other candidates and (maybe less preferably) not voting. So really, the question may wind up being which side has a more committed base. |
