re: chili sauce

I use the recipe for the fermented sauce he links in the post. It's good. I still have some aging from two years ago. This year I'm adding ghost peppers to it to give it real heat. There is no hot sauce that compares in flavor to Tobasco, but it's not hot enough.

I want to try those wild chilis.

Thanks for that. Chile Pequins aren't that hard to grow in Texas, I've had them several times but not recently. At the time I had peacocks and they loved to eat them, and if you throw a couple of these little peppers into the chile it adds a great flavor.

I made harissa this week, very easy and good. My husband makes a terrific quick salsa from charred tomatoes, onions, and peppers, just blackened a bit under the broiler, then thrown into the blender with some salt for a light mixing.

But we use the bottled stuff, too, for convenience. It keeps well and tastes good, what's not to like?

Very good links this morning, Bird Dog, thanks! The article about Panera ought to be unsurprising but it does at least address the unfortunate reality at the heart of do-gooderism - the belief that noble ideals have the power to translate into beneficial results without any factual justification. Often Wrong but Never Uncertain! But the Shellenberger article about California homelessness that is linked in the Panera story is even better reading - and it's Pt. II of III. Highly recommend it.

If they’re going to impeach Mike Pence, just go ahead and make it illegal to hold conservative views. Isn’t that the end goal? They want us all to conform to their commie\marxist world views. No one is allowed to have wrong thoughts. Hey, isn’t their a book about that?

Facebook, the EU and hate speech. It is obvious that the "hate speech" meme is a Trojan Horse. The intent is to criminalize free speech but much worse the intent is to make it impossible for good people to call out bad people and bad acts. The left labels you as a member of a group that is hateful and everything you say in your defense or to point out the criminal or hateful acts of the left is "hate speech" and cannot be repeated or reported on. This is right out of Saul Alinsky's handbook. It makes the NAZI's look pretty decent by comparison.

What is hate speech? It is whatever those who have power over the microphone, the printing press or politics say it is. This is worse than a slippery slope it is a frigging cliff.

I grow peppers in big pots on our deck. Made a bunch of sauce a couple of weeks ago. Peppers, topped, split lengthwise, 2 or 3 big garlic cloves, a large ripe tomato,. put in a sauce pan enough white vinegar to cover and simmer for 20-30 minute. Into a blender until it is all smooth. I used cayenne peppers this time, but next year I will group some habaneros to mix in. My favorite commercial hot sauce is El Yucateco, Chile Habanero. If you like hot sauce and haven't tried it, you are living a culturally deprived life. Joys of multi-culti.

What the article doesn't mention is that the trannie in question DID get her hysterectomy from the very same medical organization, but from a Methodist hospital in the group. Now xhe's suing for the bucks to cover the considerable cost of the operation. Talk about ingratitude!

It is a shame that a sentence for this crime cannot be more beneficial to the country. We will pay $50k every one of those 40 years to incarcerate him unless one of the real criminals that deserved to be locked up kills him first. He is a doctor! A resource that should not be wasted. Offer him a choice to devote the next 40 years to health care for the indigent with some kind of monitoring of him to assure he does the right thing. There are parts of the country where a doctor is needed where his skills would be valued. There are pockets of populations that need better health care and aren't getting it. To send him to prison is a terrible waste.

Is there any tally of how many people died because of his actions? Probably hundreds if he distributed half a million pills.

Down here in Damnearalabama, Georgia, hot pepper sauce is a standard condiment on the meat and three table. Just use an old Tabasco bottle, pack it with de-stemmed hot peppers, fill it with vinegar and wait a month or so. Even easier than that fancy stuff and a dash or two adds a nice little kick to the beans and collards and what not. Replenish the vinegar and replace the peppers as necessary.

In order to accept the Democrat and Media narrative that Trump withheld funding as a quid pro quo to leverage Ukraine into an investigation of Biden and his son, one would have to also accept that this was a supremely subtle maneuver by Trump. If true, then I think we can agree that it is the first and only time Trump has ever been subtle.
