We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
That so many children were not in school on Friday is a sad reflection on the state of parenting and the state of academic leadership in our primary schools. But mostly, it's a failure of parenting. If one was to hold a pop quiz on the climate debate, e.g.: what are the main talking points under debate and what is their scientific basis, it would be met with a blank look. These kids were warm bodies exploited for crowd numbers on the promise of a day off from school, nothing more.
"Millions" of young people with no actual skills to do anything about climate change marched on all the continents, expending lots of CO2 in areas with few trees or flora to capture that CO2 demanding governments overrun individual liberty and freedom using violence if necessary.
A massive indictment of the school systems around the world.
