We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I think you are being facetious, but just in case, those sounds aren't screams.
Though I suppose once we get that thought into our head it might be tough to get around it. No longer a problem for me. New England colonials thought of lobster as a trash food, and prisoners protested how often they were being fed lobster. Not enough drawn butter, I suppose. I don't much care for it and never eat it anymore. Bottom-feeder, after all.

re What Happened to the Epstein Story?
A great read.
Don't recall if this was posted at MF or not:
Millionaire thought to have key information on Epstein scandal vanishes
Interesting column in City Journal by Harvey Mansfield: "Democracy in Trump's America." Thanks for the link. The Great Courses has an excellent course by Prof. William Cook: Tocqueville and the American Experiment (2004). Prof. Cook based his course on the translation of Democracy in America by Harvey Mansfield and his (now deceased) wife Delba Winthrop published in 2000. I purchased both the course and the book, and I highly recommend both.

In other news, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors has declared the NRA to be a domestic terror organization.
