Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

re "Don't Fear the Simulators"
That's a good post at Slate Star Codex, and I agree. Ann Althouse made a good point about the original NYT column here, and I wrote a few similar thoughts here. (The original NYT column is here.) Subsequent to writing that post, I re-read the 1964 science fiction novel Simulacron-3 by Daniel Galouye. There are many similarities between that book and the NYT column. That book was long out of print. Amazon says (see previous link) it was reprinted on August 9, 2019. The NYT column was published on August 10, 2019. Coincidence? Re: Remembering the Outbreak of the Second World War
Today is also the 100th Anniversary of the return stateside of the last US combat unit deployed to France for the Great War. This was 290-some-odd days after the Armistice. The last support unit would not return until some time the following February. Beware the NGOs. Probably the first time you ever heard of NGOs they were feeding starving children in Somalia. But NGOs today are invading (or facilitating invasion) countries, interfering in elections and politics and coercing and donating to (buying) politicians. The MSM seems complicit, they could simply be incredibly incompetent but they seem to be willfully blind to what NGOs do. Wouldn't you think that exposing who pays thousands of dollars for each African or Muslim migrant to be brought into the U.S. through Central America and Mexico would be a Pulitzer prize worthy story? But no investigative reporter has touched it. Some vague rumblings about perhaps Soros is behind it but is China behind it? or Russia? Why is this taboo?
Yes, Anon. The NGOs are merely fronts for highly-illegal activity that interferes with any government that sits on natural resources the PTB want for themselves. They are the mercenaries going around the law to destabilize countries, feed the criminals running those countries and fulfill the interests of the NWO leaders masquerading behind the unelected UN.
We need to get out of the UN, which runs the world on our dollars while diminishing our Constitutional Republic. It was a bad idea from the start -- an evil method of spreading totalitarianism across the world while masking its activities behind nefarious programs supposedly delivering food, medicine and other basics that were glommed by those controlling the oil, drugs, gold, uranium, etc. While you accidentally linked to the wrong post on Coyoteblog, the Elon Musk takedown rather than the Summer of the Shark one, Coyoteblog is such a great site that, if you don't already read it, a forced stroll through some of the posts trying to find the Summer of the Shark one is a happy accident.
Small town life is not simulated. It's real, day after day after day.
Europe seems to be slowly killing itself. NGOs and Anti-Israeli groups: Why am I not surprised? How Obama-era social engineering transformed the military: I'm glad I was retired before then. One wonders how many of those NGOs are owned, lock, stock, and barrel, by Schwartz György???
Re: The worst is yet to come for James Comey
No it isn't. Nothing's coming for James Comey. There may need to be one or two sacrificial underlings thrown under the bus to appease the peasants, but the ruling class protects its own. Obama social engineering transformed the military. That the general staff say next to nothing about it is more telling of how the top military leadership is SJW converged. Social perverts were put in charge and far too many are still in charge whether at the Pentagon or assigned to a post.
We had three commanding officers of our local Marine base purged in one year, each for the euphemistic "failing to inspire confidence." There was never any statement that they were incompetent or hadn't done their duty or did something wrong, they just "failed to inspire confidence." But people realize the phrase means they violated the political correctness rules. Like the Soviet Union, units now have political correctness officers embedded in them whose job it is to spy on others and report it to the authorities.
Hundreds and hundreds of officers, both high ranking and less, were purged from the military during the Obama years, and they continue to be purged. I have a friend who is a part-time medical officer in the Air Force Reserves. He said when he volunteered and went through officer training (he was already a civilian doctor), ninety percent plus of the training was on political correctness and what you could and could not say, and what sort of terminology you had to use to not be perceived as insensitive, etc. He said it was absolutely ridiculous. Check out The Latest Casualty of the Marines’ Surrender to Political Correctness More to Indy's comment that the kiss-up military senior staff say nothing about all this and think it's terrific, see this: Navy, Marine Leaders: No Problem with Transgender Troops The problem is the Chinese are going to walk right over us. On "the Europe that hates itself," that whole sad raindance is the working out of Gramscian damage set in motion long ago.
