Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Re: When Gorbachov learned an economics lesson
QUOTE: I believe this anecdote illustrates principle #4 in Harvard economist Greg Mankiw’s Ten Principles of Economics: People respond to incentives. And yet he was still a staunch socialist when he and Reagan negotiated. re NY University Gender Studies Department Publishes Paper Saying Milking Cows Is Like Sexual Abuse
This is so absurd, I am wondering if it is a hoax? OTOH, if it is true, one wonders if this crazy thinking will gain traction, resulting in the prohibition of artificially inseminating cows, and the production of milk? One wonders if the people writing this realize that without milk there would be no butter, cheese, or ice cream either? Perhaps it was written by vegans? It boggles my feeble mind how some people can be so detached from reality. and does it matter that cows like to be milked?
or that they will die if you do not milk them? especially today's breeds who have been bred to give 100+ lbs of milk in peak production. If they stop giving milk they become a Quarter Pounder With Cheese.
They never been to Fair Oaks Farms in northeast Indiana where it's hard not to fall in love with a cow or two (out of 3000), especially when you watch one give birth. It's a priceless experience for family of all ages, who may not have had the pleasure of seeing how technology and ingenuity have changed the face of dairy farming.

My wife would never let me go, thinks I would be a "babe magnet". But then, who wants to attract a bunch of women who have no business taking their clothes off in public? Meh. LOL Anybody remember this??
I recall comic book ads offering to sell suckers kids a square inch of Alaska. However, I believe this to be earlier. In the 1950s Quaker Oats offered a square inch of the Yukon, in a cereal promotion for the Sgt Preston show they sponsored. My feeble mind boggles at how gullible people were/are. https://www.yukoninfo.com/dawson-city-yukon/the-klondike-big-inch/ I don't think it's implausible that a man facing life in prison would commit suicide, but what I find questionable is the idea that Jeffrey Epstein would think it at all plausible that he might be a man facing life in prison. With all that he seems to have gotten away with before and all the leverage he seems to have held, why wouldn't he believe that one way or another a deal could be struck that would keep him out of prison for more than a token amount of time? Were his money and power and connections and blackmail insurance all just a bluff and he knew he really had no way to save his skin? I find that hard to believe.
Free speech: I am flabbergasted when I hear that a modern 1st world Western country actually chooses to put people in jail for the crime of telling the truth that some special interest group does not want discussed. England, Germany and Sweden do it. Incredibly England did it to people who complained about the rapes of thousands of girls by "Asians" (read 'Muslims'). In Sweden you can't publicly complain about the rapes committed by their most recent diversity gift from Muslim and African countries. Canada will charge you and jail you for publicly saying that you oppose immigration from the crime infested countries.
IMHO This is NOT about free speech it is about control and oppression by the government in collusion with special interest groups. The left is trying to bring the same thing to the U.S. but that pesky 1st amendment gets in their way. So they use a different tactic and that is public shaming and name calling. You are now officially racist and a white supremacist if you object to unimpeded immigration from shithole countries. What is actually going on is rampant globalism. America MUST be infiltrated by more subservient "citizens" and once there are enough of these replacement citizens the coup will take place and your assets and wealth will be looted. I'm thinking that Google is actively anti-America and is committing treason. Not only are they cooperating with China's military to help them be more effective but they are conspiring to harm our government and our military. I think they need to be broken up or shut down. Perhaps something as simple as banned from the internet and the U.S.
Visited a nude resort as a young single man. Was surprised at how non-sexual it seemed. Lots of beautiful women (and men) around the pool without a stitch on seemed very normal and natural, like that's how God first created us to live. But when I walked in the gift shop by the pool, the woman behind the counter had on shorts but no top. I had to leave because I immediately got aroused.
My wife and I were members of a nude swim club. Very comfortable, very low key (and the absence of a clingy wet swimsuit is great)
My first visit to a nude beach was back in my twenties and just like you, I found that all those people around without a stitch on seemed very normal and natural. It was a family friendly place so there were people of all ages there. It was a new experience for me, and at first I thought my biggest problem would be trouble with arousal. After just a little while, however, I found that my fear was unfounded and I very much enjoyed the experience.
The real problem happened later when I realized that there were parts of my own anatomy that had never seen the sun. My advice if this is your first visit to a nude resort: Sunscreen! |
