We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

When politicians prattle on about global this and that, and sanctimoniously declare themselves citizens of the world, I am always tempted to ask:

Housing: Home ownership does grant some independence and power to the bourgeoisie, so elites want to reserve that for themselves. The environmentalists object for two reasons, neither of which is valid or has anything to do with the environment. They think the world is too crowded - it is not, though they may not like having so many people around them; and they don't like how the houses and neighborhoods look, a purely aesthetic concern.

Yet they never consider killing themselves on principle to show leadership on overpopulation (just as they never consider giving up flying, fancy European SUVs or that second home to show leadership on climate change).

St. Augustine and hate speech - This one seems to be a false alarm. I think the offending phrase which the algorithm picked up was "Men are hopeless," referring of course to all of humanity, not a specific group of them. If people change the word to "humans," I think it is no longer censored.

This is exactly what’s wrong here — their control of speech based on whimsy, ignorance, and PC worship.

Huh? The censorship was an accident, as far as we can tell. Deciding that people are out to get you when they aren't is not healthy. Remember we are not changing one of Augustine's words, but the translation of his words, and meanings in translation are tough, if you have ever tried it. The most common understanding of "Men are hopeless" in modern English would be to think of males. At the time of the translation, it would have meant humans in general.

What Augustine actually wrote in Latin I don't know. Someone with more learning (or diligence) than I might enlighten us.

If you find that it was not an accident, but a censoring of content, I will gladly switch sides on this issue.

Actually, the hypothesis that gravity is racist would explain the empirical observation that "White men can't jump". It's not athletic ability, they just get more gravity, like they get more of everything else.

Continued development of abstract reasoning. Because the math whizzes can understand Algebra in 7th grade, people push to have it taught to everyone then. It is harmful. When I coached 7th-grade boys basketball, even the two smartest boys could not quite put into effect the overhead perspective diagrams I was drawing. Two years later, they could draw them for each other. This was even more true of the girls - another year helps them even more. They pass these courses because they are conscientious, but their understanding is greater just a year later.

Coaching tangent: To teach plays and positioning, have them bring in a doll, stuffed animal, or action figure to represent themselves on a miniature court.

Tom Friedman thinks Trump will win because of what the Democrat candidates said in the first debate.

Democrats tell Americans that citizenship means nothing.

They wouldn't have dared to be so open about their intent 8 years ago. Why now? I think it is because they believe that the massive influx of replacement voters/citizens cannot be stopped short of a civil war and they expect when it is all over to be on top with millions of new voters in strategic locations willing to vote for free stuff funded by you.

Gravity is not only racist, it is sexist. Anybody who has taken an advanced physics course learns that after Newton discovered gravity, a bunch of evil white patriarchs got together and passed the law of gravity just to keep women and people of color down. It's no wonder the feminists hate Newton and call his Principia a rape manual.

White patriarchs stole the concept of gravity from our African ancestors. The concept of gravity was first developed by our African Queen Cleopatra--it was stolen from her and she was forced to commit suicide by the white Romans, who then used gravity as part of their tools of destruction and oppression such as catapults. Until people of color are restored to their rightful place, we will be forced to endure myths about dead white men like Newton. Everything is kept from us, even the fact that the first president of the United States was a black man, not George Washington.
