We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Went to our very small town 4th of July parade today at 10:30. A few tractors and pickups pulling flatbed trailers with displays and various groups of people. Some fire trucks and school teams and cheerleaders. Flags everywhere, people handing out small flags to wave and flags along the street every 20 feet. Had the grandkids with us and it was fun for all.
Watched the DC 4th celebration. Enjoyed the speech and the enthusiasm and patriotism. Enjoyed the jets and helicopters. Seemed pleasant and positive, inspiring and patriotic. I'm sure the left saw racism and fascism or something. But I enjoyed it.
Fireworks tonight at 10:00. Hope they know what they are doing our little town is smack in the middle of a dry pine forest. Hope we can get a good parking place and don't have to fight traffic when it's done. But looking forward to it. I love the 4th. I love America.
