It is obvious that the Obama and the left's obsession with the availability of guns is bogus. When I was a kid, you could buy guns at the local hardware store, and even at Sears, without any background check of any kind. Mass shootings are a symptom of cultural rot in the US. Mass knifings (along with the rise of gun violence) is a symptom of cultural rot in the UK. The left can only treat the symptom otherwise they would be forced to acknowledge they are the source of most of the cultural rot would indict themselves for their part in fostering that rot.

I hate to be paranoid but considering what we've heard about things like Fast and Furious, the use of the marginally mentally ill for political tricks, James Hodgkins, the rise of Antifa, how much the gun grabbers really really want to disarm normals, it might not be entirely cultural.

Actually, that's a thought that occurred to Mrs. mudbug. I agree with both of you that that possibility should not be ignored.

In defense of my point (and not to counter yours or Mrs. mudbug's), I think the fact that there is a significant number of people who consider the use such people to kill others to promote a political agenda is also a symptom of cultural rot.

The real cause is prevalence of violent video games. You get teenagers, young adults, and even not so young adults playing that stuff 10-15 hours a day. Some are going to go over the edge when they are faced with a setback in real life, whether it's doing badly at school or a job, being spurned by a would-be girlfriend, or teased or bullied.

So you have the "progressive" left in Silicon Valley and other places in Tech Land making billions and churning these games out which teach players how to be violent and use weapons against others. The direct opposite of the NRA which is teaching people gun safety and how to use firearms responsibly so as not to harm others.

Guess which gets vilified?

There is no evidence whatsoever for video games increasing violence. Just as there was no evidence for comic books, Mad magazine, penny dreadfuls, violent movies, or increased television watching.

There actually isn't an increase in violence. there's an increase in knowledge about events.

LP, I'm certain you could gather the materials at a site for far less money than the prefab kits, but the labor to assemble them would be far, far, more than the materials cost. If your labor is free, sure.

Well that was a very silly article. Income tax receipts are up, therefore....what? They do at least admit that "in part" this may be due to the fact that the number of tax returns increased by 1.5% (more people working) but no mention of how much income increased. Just to state that income tax receipts are up and imply that the Trump "tax cut" was actually a tax increase is just the sort of argument I'd expect of a reporter with a fourth-grader's grasp of percentages.
