Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Why?

I understand the problems in incarcerating large numbers of people. I understand the politics and how easy it is to make a social issue out of this if we hold them. But what I don't understand is why the laws apply to citizens but non-citizens especially illegal aliens don't have to face consequences of breaking our laws. I don't understand why it is I have to fill out an I-9 to get a job and only certain state or federal ID is satisfactory and illegals have zero requirements in fact the government goes out of their way to make it easier for them. I don't understand why the TSA can make me take my clothes off and feel me and my family up at the airport but 100,000 non-citizens from god knows where can cross our border freely, get a hot meal, an airplane ride to U.S. cities and a briefing on how to apply for welfare and housing. WTF is wrong with my government???

It's so much more too. The experts say that hundreds of potential jihadis have come across our Southern border but we don't know who they are, where they went or what their intent is. Our open borders are a serious national threat to us. Why is our federal government fiddling while our borders are a joke.

Obviously Congress hasn't wanted the laws to keep the hordes from invading.
Border Patrol has a feint of a number of "families" crossing at one point, while all the bad stuff (drugs, jihadis, whatever) happen down the way.
Who benefits?
Have there been any serious investigations as to how many politicians (local, county, state, federal) are on the take? How many law enforcement persons are on the take? To include BP?
There's a lot of money flowing. Who's investigating?
Maybe we need to start busting the small fry rather than trying to get folks to turn so we can wend our way to Mister Big.

When we find out who's been on the take, make it hard time, not some weekend fed facility.
