We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
"... DHS is releasing thousands of illegals into the country every month, over a thousand a day which begs the question "why?!""
For at least two reasons: First, because, by default, Mexico and Guatemala are in charge of US immigration. The second is because the Dems want to import more voters, and more cheap lawn guys and hotel maids.
I understand the problems in incarcerating large numbers of people. I understand the politics and how easy it is to make a social issue out of this if we hold them. But what I don't understand is why the laws apply to citizens but non-citizens especially illegal aliens don't have to face consequences of breaking our laws. I don't understand why it is I have to fill out an I-9 to get a job and only certain state or federal ID is satisfactory and illegals have zero requirements in fact the government goes out of their way to make it easier for them. I don't understand why the TSA can make me take my clothes off and feel me and my family up at the airport but 100,000 non-citizens from god knows where can cross our border freely, get a hot meal, an airplane ride to U.S. cities and a briefing on how to apply for welfare and housing. WTF is wrong with my government???
Dems want illegals because they think they vote for them, although Victor Davis Hanson makes a powerful argument that they do not vote for Dems. R's want them for the cheap labor- R's are without honor.
Is this really true, though? Is there some kind of data that shows that the illegal hiring of illegal aliens is predominantly a Republican phenomenon? I doubt it, but am open-minded to supportable data. The Democrat strategy (which I would call even more dishonorable) is to import and gestate enough voters, legal or illegal, to tip districts - in much the same way as the vote harvesting seen in California in 2018. And the numbers suggest they could be successful at this. But importing for cheap labor? Do the numbers of illegals working really constitute a meaningful portion of the American work force? Do they work for a proportionally dominant set of Republicans? Just asking.
