We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Alexander is consistently amazing, isn't he? Thank you.

This same clear-eyed approach destroys other attempts by the left to undermine human agency:
Nobody is born gay or trans.
These bits of political psuedo-science assume a similar faulty model of genetic influence on complex behaviors.
My favorite quote: "This was a perfectly fine thing to study before we understood genetics well, but the whole point of studying is that, once you have done 450 studies on something, you should end up with more knowledge than you started with. In this case we ended up with less."
I wonder how many Doctorates were awarded on these studies?
The human mind is complex and the years of personal experiences both good and bad create changes in how we view things that may contribute to this problem. But in the majority of cases people who develop harmful depression and attempt suicide are mentally ill and have been all their lives. Bi-polar is the most common factor in depression and attempted suicide.
