We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
We spent a couple of days in Bayeux last spring. Great starting off place to tour Normandy. Best fish soup we had was in Cancale at a place called Chez Victor. Amazing how they gather oysters there. The beds are on raised platforms and when the tide is out they just drive their tractors out to the beds and bag them up,
We're having brisket tonight, with neighbors coming. A brand-new BBQ pit and our first attempt at brisket. It looks like it's going to be perfect. I found a pretty great recipe for Spekulaas cookies, too.
My wife really showed her chops tonight with an amazing Coq au vin. With five thighs and plenty of $5.50 Smoking Loon Pinot Noir + Courvoisier sauce left over, we'll dine in style a couple more nights.
Other than her innate skill, chops were not involved.
A couple fingers of 15-year-old Speyburn single malt has me in fine fettle.
