We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
With high tech every major change also brings major new ways to interfere in our lives. Sounds paranoid but it is true. You won't discover even half the ways that the new technology can affect you for a few years. So beware.
My favorite example is the cop shows on TV. They ask their tech guy to trace a line and the tech guy says keep them on the line as long as you can. After the call they shake their heads and claim that the call wasn't long enough to trace. Not true. If you get a call before your phone even rings the information is already in the system. They know where you are, who you are and who you are talking to. They can retroactively wiretap you (actually the NSA can not the cops).
"with many more base stations – each of which is physically smaller than a current cellular tower and placed much more closely together. 5G base stations could be placed every 250 meters, rather than the every 1 to 5 km needed for 4G."
They kinda blow right past this. How's this to be done? Even if they can get thousands of utilities or municipalities all over the country to allow transmitters on their poles/street lights/traffic signals at a reasonable rent rate, each transmitter will need a power supply and fiber optic backhaul. This is going to be difficult to pull off.
