We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Agreed, except for the fact that libertarians these days are more aligned with Leftists, since the homo and drug things are two easy avenues to exercise their "libertarian virtue signalling."
But, yes, it is moreso the Conservative today who would say "leave us alone." And, no, criticizing the MURDERING of babies is not regulating peoples' lives...it's ensuring their lives, as stated in the Declaration of Independence.
The reference to "conservatives want to regulate our lives is the usual code for pro-lifers," dodging the intellectual argument in favor of the emotional ones. Trying to add in opposition to gay marriage, which is a change in thousands of years of human behavior, doesn't sell me on the idea that conservatives are trying to do much regulating there.
Libertarians have excellent points, but there is a reason why they seldom get elected, and it's not ideology.
