We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

My father, brother, and a couple of good friends are private pilots so I had a bit of time in the air. It still amazes me how hard it is to spot a large airport in a big city from the air as you approach the port.

I feel sorry for the controllers trying to understand those pilots. It sounded like they were Chinese trying to speak French.

My understanding is that English is the required language of all pilots and air controllers all over the world. I once listened to a Turkish Air landing at LAX on which my husband was a passenger and I heard nothing but English spoken by the Turkish pilots. All the French spoken by these pilots surprises me.

I think there are two conversations going on. One in English is between the pilot and controllers. One in French is between the two pilots and is a cockpit conversation not going over the radios to the controller.

Was that a 777 or an Airbus? I thought I heard "Airbus" in the comm with the tower. It might have been another flight.

Something very strange is happening concerning the 737 max. Congress, or at least the Democrats in congress seem to be attacking Boeing and the FAA before much is really known about the causes of the crashes.

Also the French are evaluating the black box data and they have a dog in the fight because of Airbus. I would expect the French will distort the findings.

So why does it seem that the Democrats are working against Boeing on this? I believe that when all is said and done a honest finding will be that the two crashes were both piloted by extremely under trained pilots who made mistakes. But I fear that the fix is in and for some reason the Democrats smell blood and are going after Boeing. Why?
