Re Cholesterol...

I cut back on all the recommended foods to lower my cholesterol, ate all the 'right' foods - and the ratio of good/bad changed in a way the doc said was unhealthy. He then said I ought to go on statin drugs for it.

Told him no - that I wanted to try something first. I started eating eggs. 2-3 a day, and dropped food restrictions. Went back six months later - and my cholesterol levels were significantly better (according to current wisdom) - and the doc seemed kinda disgruntled at that. He still recommended statins as a preventative measure.

He's no longer my doctor.

I take statins. I eat pretty much whatever I want, to keep my weight up. I don't eat sweets because I rarely want them.

I do not think nutrition has much impact on early cardiovascular disease, and I am a skeptic on statins. No, an agnostic.

That was a very interesting article. Yes, I think Gary Taubes is on to something. It's his (and my) belief that sugar and carbs real killers but animal fats are not. When I switched from eating cereal for breakfast to eating bacon and eggs (fried in real butter), my cholesterol numbers got better. I don't do that every day - maybe twice per week. Sometimes I just skip breakfast. I'm losing weight, too.

I know a veterinarian who was wont to refer to the previous guidelines minimizing fat and emphasizing carbs as the "feedlot diet". Seems she was right.

Absolutely. Dad's first heart attack in 1964, put on no-fat, low-fat diets, no improvement. Second heart attack in the 70's, same. Third in the 90's, young doctor put him on the Atkins diet. Lost 75 pounds and cholesterol went down 100 points. Outlived his warranty and died at 80 of Parkinsons and Esophageal Cancer. I stop listening to everything after "Studies show....."

Smollett story:
I would like to commend the CPD Investigative Division for coming through on what seemed like a daunting task, at least initially. OTOH, I suppose they knew more than they ever let on.
I can’t see a Chicago jury convicting him, so probably no civil penalty. A financial loss might be more realistic.
Ya gotta wonder, what would he have done, if innocent suspects came on the radar just by happenstance. I wouldn't count on him having the character to clear them, but even if he did, that wouldn’t stop the mob.

I think there should be a huge penalty for falsifying a crime. This is part of the democrat-media strategy, and it intensified under Obama. The great healer, was actually a dividers. Keep everything chaotic, people are easily taken advantage of of their passions get the better of them. How would this fake crime play out if the races where reversed?

I have read recently that black hate crimes against whites are 8 times more common than the reverse. But black hate crimes against whites are suppressed by our MSM.

They are much more common. They aren't so much suppressed as considered uninteresting on an individual level. They are mostly just bullying harassments, not spectacular newsworthy affairs. I think you are confusing statistics on crime in general, which do show that blacks are significantly more likely to commit crimes where the victims are white than vice versa, with so-called hate crimes. This would be expected since blacks commit significantly more crimes than other races, and whites are still the largest single racial group in the US.

I will agree that the Democrat party is gone off the reservation, no pun intended. But I don't agree that Trump will be reelected. The Democrats and their proxies will steal the election right before your eyes. They are so desperate that I would imagine they will not even try too hard to hide what they are doing. I expect to see a Democrat president and a Democrat congress in 2021. Arguably the Repubulicans and Rinos will help them in this, some intentionally and some through stupidity and incompetence.

Cops have come across many examples of people trying to use them as a way to gain undue advantage- it's not just fake hate crimes they get called to investigate. It's not unknown to call cops on a neighbor, even though the neighbor has not committed any actionable crime. As a result, cops develop a pretty BS-meter. They also develop a good idea for what are typical crime patterns in the neighborhoods they patrol.
It wasn't just conservative columnists, for example, who thought it odd that an attack happened at 2 a.m. on one of the coldest nights of the year.

It is stunning stupid to put this facility in Virginia. Las Vegas has 10 times more solar exposure and even there this project wouldn't produce enough electricity to pay for itself. The problem is we need electricity in areas that just are solar power friendly. And of course the other problem is these projects are all about mining the federal government for massive subsidies. These projects are a scam.

The only sane thing to do is kill them. I'm sure most won't agree because we think in terms of our own experiences. But these men a so terribly damaged by an evil political belief disguised as a religion that they can never be trusted in society again. They will and they must kill again, and they always choose to kill innocent civilians least able to protect themselves. Just kill them, do it humanely not as they would kill but just do it.

Have you noticed? Have you put 2 and 2 together? Do you understand what the Democratic party has done to our children since 1975? Here is a summary:
1. force kids to attend/participate in political protests (or protests demanding more salary for teachers. These marches/demonstrations are always held during the school day--kids are packed into a bus and taken downtown, handed signs and forced to march following the orders of their "popular"teachers.
2. Twenty years later--they march in protest at single call to protest. They do it now, because they were taught to do it when they were young--they were trained and rewarded for marching/protesting when they were in school.
3. Today's organized protests set the emotional and verbal platform upon which the same generations now destroy innocent lives by organizing shaming, outing, etc. on the social media.

Soo, the question now is how many white males wills stand up and demand their state legislature pass legislation that prohibits the organizing or marches, or political demonstrations of any type that include school aged children?
Who knows perhaps, you could push it through your state legislature by putting it in over the transom and nobody will see you stand up for something.
