We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

What a great movie. The Deep state covered up their crimes under Obama and tried to impeach and impede an elected president to divert attention from what Obama's cabinet did to America and the constitution. Will Hollywood make that movie???

Or how about "helicopter parenting?" Where mommy and daddy watch over everything and protect helmeted, safe-spaced, and well-padded little Johnnies from all of life's "owies", failures and bogeymen?

Pain and failure are life's greatest teachers! Not those feminazis in American public education, but we'll never hear that from the "Psycho-Babble Today" MD experts, will we?

I think this is simpler and more basic than most people think. There is a percentage of humans who will just kind of shuffle along through life if they can. Our country and our huge advancements in providing life's necessities make it possible for people who are inclined to be lazy to do exactly that. The greatest generation was created out of having to deal with really tough times not from living in a country with more than enough of everything you could desire. The good/bad news is tough times are coming again and a lot of these lazy people will have to work hard to survive it. We are going to create again the greatest generation again.

So bringing the NGD, sponsored by 70 some congress critters, up for a vote, is the same as silencing and sabotaging? Got it. It’s not like we don’t debate this farcical every single day, for the past thirty years.

It seems that the world is running just fine, I mean yeah there are problems, but is it really the fault of meat eaters? I love to eat vegetables with my meat. They go together very nicely. A well rounded diet.

Gov. Cuomo has provided a hilarious teachable moment for lefties everywhere. After NY has implemented a VERY progressive income tax (1% pay almost 50% of all income taxes and NYC has a similarly progressive income tax on top of that), after the Federal Government supplies $100B of NY's $176B budget, after Cuomo said that conservatives were not welcome in NY, after Cuomo called Trump a liar and any number of other unflattering names, Cuomo goes to Trump asking for more Federal money! I'd love to have heard that conversation!

Of course, Cuomo or the structure of the income (and likely many other) taxes in his state are not the reason people are leaving NY, it's because Florida and other low tax states are "stealing" his rich people and Trump has stopped subsidizing high tax states like his by limiting the deductability of state and local income taxes. He thinks that's not fair!

Of course the problem is that his tax base relies on a few people who are unfairly taxed by NY and NYC. These rich people have a lot more options than the rest of the people in NY and some of them have decided that the cost of staying in NY isn't worth it any more. Because of their highly progressive income tax, it doesn't take many to create a big fiscal problem.

Lefties are all about highly progressive Federal income taxes like they have in NY but there is no reason that a similar result would not befall the US. It would only take a relatively small number of the uber rich to decide it makes more financial sense to move somewhere else and we would have an even bigger fiscal problem.

That is very much incorrect. Zach will be along shortly to show you, in one simple graph, how red states are disproportionately net subsidy receivers, from the blue states.

Not sure where you got that figure. The New York comptroller is showing federal grants to the state of $58 billion, with the single largest program being Medicaid.

In any case, New York contributes tens of billions more dollars to the federal government than it receives back.

I used to have to pay $25K/year to New York city and state, and I didn't even live there--avoided visiting it like the plague. No net subsidy receiver here!

I had to pay taxes to Hungary, too.
