We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

CHINESE BIRTH TOURISTS HAD BABIES AT TAXPAYERS EXPENSE

Our politicians are stupid and complicit. Everyone knew about this and very little effort to stop it. As far as the mothers and children it was a fraud and we should not reward fraudulent actions. Strip them of there pho (pun) citizenship. Put anyone involved in this in jail.

Because of similar issues, despite "two systems, one China," Hong Kong won't let mainland Chinese women into Hong Kong if they are pregnant and look like they are about to give birth. And, there is a law prohibiting medical care being given to Mainland Chinese women giving birth in Hong Kong.

The rich Chinese come to the U.S. and buy surrogate mothers to give birth to their sex selected child (a son) who a U.S. citizen by birth and native Chinese. Infestation? Infiltration? Invasion?

Leaving aside his flawed assertion that gender reassignment surgery saves lives, Sullivan exposes some of the lunacy of the left and the dangerousness of it not only to everyone else but to themselves. When you're in the business of deconstructing things, you eventually end up deconstructing yourself.

The photos of Ralph Northam simply don't seem like a big deal. I know, we have created this false outrage and no one can wear customs selected by the PC people as being "racist". An yet have you seen the cast in Hamilton? Are they not essentially in "white face" and are they not culturally appropriating? Where is the outrage? My assumption is that Northam as a young ma in college did what so many people do at that age and act out in ways that are not particularly appropriate. Not so very different from the college girls pulling up their blouse and bra at spring break or drinking from a funnel while being held upside down.

It is simply a mistake to judge peoples past actions by today's standards and it is especially wrong when the "standards" were only implemented to allow attacking political opponents.

Hey! Does anyone remember Halloween in the 70's and how popular the Nixon mask was? Should the fact that a person wore a Nixon mask as a child make them ineligible to run for office?

Of course it's silly to judge a person by something in his college yearbook. It's even sillier to judge someone by his high school yearbook (see Cavanaugh hearings). While it's a little entertaining to watch the left get hoisted by their own petard, I think there could be more going on such as elevating the possibility of a more radical black politician to governor of Virginia and a smokescreen repudiation of Northam's comments that laid bare the true nature of the left's abortion fascination.

Further, if the Lt. Governor takes over, I believe he would serve about three years. Virginia term limits governors at one term. Would he be able to run again? If so and he won, he would have a seven year term.

But the word this morning is that Northam doesn't think that's him in the photo after all, though he expressly apologized yesterday for the offense he gave in 1984 and today by appearing in the costume depicted in the photo.

Understandable, right? Who can remember for sure whether he once dressed up in blackface and/or a KKK hood for a med school party that was captured on film? He was just taking our word for it, but come to think of it, he doesn't think he did. Maybe he donned the costume on some other occasion and has belatedly concluded that this particular photo is someone else? Maybe yesterday he only thought he'd dressed up that way back in 1984 because he was too drunk to remember? And he probably never noticed the picture until now in his med school yearbook, because that kind of thing excites no comment in his circles and is in no way memorable.

Schultz is too similar to Trump: He is not a career politician, or a politician of any stripe; rather he's a ultra-successful, self-made business man who got there by trusting his instincts. If elected, he vaults into the most powerful job in the world, owing the rest of the political class no favors, hence he's not subject to tugs on the reins of power. I would bet the progressives find that prospect scary indeed.

Schlichter is actually soft pedaling it. Congress critters have to use phrases like "friends across the aisle" but they don't have to - and shouldn't - believe it. Those on the left will stab you in the back while smiling to your face. After enough lefty congress critters call you a racist or a Nazi for long enough, one would think you would finally get the message. We're waiting. Hope springs eternal.

Young people turning to classical music...I hope they try the old 50's-60's orchestra music. Percy Faith, Mancini, Montovani, Ferrani and Teicher, Herb Alpert, Hugo Winterhalter, Roger Williams, Floyd Cramer, Billy Vaughn, Vaughn Monroe, and throw in a little Boots Randolph.
