We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Phillips is a terrible drummer. His time is all over the place, in and out of the groove. No variation or creativity in syncopation, no inventiveness or originality. No dynamics. Just an ostinato string of poorly executed quarter notes.
At minute 5 in the video above, they show Phillips entering the crowd, but over the chanting, the videographer starts yelling "Y'all better not touch him".
If you read William A. Jacobson's post at Legal Insurrection from last Monday, you see that this is a tried and true tactic of the Left: To get in someone's face, yelling or in this case beating a drum less tan 8 inches from the boy's face, and then start yelling "don't touch me", "you'd better not touch me" so their videographer can record the victimization by the person they are crowding.
And everyone piled on. Those at NR, and other conservatives must not keep up with the tactics given this is tactic is a decade or more old.
The Covington incident was theater for the nuts and chumps. It was a variant of the "crybully hoax", in which the instigator feigns being the victim. It's a scam, a con, with a very long history. It is analogous to the "Swoop and Squat" accident in the world of insurance fraud. It works for the same reason that any ambush works and because it is so hard to disprove. The Covington kids were just lucky that they 1) didn't take the bait, and 2) that the fates intervened with the recovery of the second video which was meant to be deleted. The real story, here, was the effort to target and setup children; how corrupt is that?
One of the many things I learned in the Marine Corps was that you always attack into an ambush. That's what this kid did figuratively. The follow up is the lawyer suing everyone implicated in the smear. That's known as "emptying magazines" until there's no more return fire. The drum major should have known that but maybe he was AWOL when it was taught.
I wonder if CNN is going to retract all this under legal threat or if they will brazen it out. The lawyer gave all these media and celebrities 48 hours to retract and apologize. It will be interesting see what happens. The "Indian" is now exposed as a liar about the military,. He never got closer than El Toro CA toVietnam, and was AWOL three times. He ended his four years (almost) as an E -1 as he began. Quite a career.
