We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Maybe Romney doesn't want a wall so Mormons would be able to flee to Mexico and back if coming under fire such as his family did in the late 19th century. This guy is a snake.

Dems become? BECOME??? If by "become" you mean "Remain as they have always been"...then you're correct!

Let us count the way...er, wars, the Dems have got us into, or really ramped up US participation:

WW I (Wilson); WW II (FDR); Korea (Truman); Vietnam (Johnson).

Even the ME debacles were Dem-supported; with their neo-Con infiltrators leading the charge in "Uniparty" forays (Bushies' NWO was NOT Republican).

The discussion we should be having is this: why don't we do what the Dutch do? They do not send money to 3rd world countries--they send experts, project managers, accountants, and materiel to build a project. They DO NOT WRITE A CHECK and send it to the criminal who run 3rd world governments. Sheesh! when are we going to start doing the same thing with Mexico? if the liberals care so much about helping the poor south of the border they can take over the area designated for manufacture and put in hospitals, schools, etc. Build em, staff em and guard them. Put in farms that the people can own the profits, but not the government. We are truly a bunch of fools when it comes to sending billions of dollars over seas. But, then again you might want to take a look at the American contractors who were sent overseas to build hospitals and dams in Iraq--they were/are the worse kind of criminal and traitor. Were any of them ever charged with criminal charges for fraud? Have you seen the pictures of the buildings they erected and called hospitals? Need to enforce our intentions when we give these guys money to go do projects. Buildings must meet our building codes adapted for the local environment (desert, tropics, etc.)--not the codes of the local community government.

The pizza math misses a trick. It just barely works even for 17" pizza.

There is a point that complainers are missing in the "back in my day" comments. Plenty of kids in my high school in 1967-71 - in NH, which often has the highest SATs in the nation - would not have understood it either. The people commenting on any question of math knowledge in previous generations are not representative of the population as a whole.

If you think reading Howie Carr is fun, you ought to listen to his radio show from 3 to 7 pm! I listen to him on WXTK on my cell phone. Guy has a mind like a steel trap but often stumbles over simple English. Best moment ever was when his former producer opined that "What's funny is you [Howie] telling us how to pronounce a word." Better than Rush even.
