Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

The way to find out if you are old is to fall down in front of a group of people. If they laugh and point, you are young. If they run to you and try to help, you are old.

Age is a social construct just like gender. I went from being a 72-year-old white male to being a 28-year-old black lesbian. The best part is that I didn't have to change my clothes or my wife!

Memories are fragile. If photos help us remember I'm all for it. I've discovered as I age that many if not most of my memories of my youth are as much fiction as truth.

I thought all the blacks had left Portland years ago.

Re Portland. Spend a Friday or Saturday evening in the N Alberta St. to MLK Blvd area and if you survive let us know if you still think that the blacks left Portland. In the last 50 years or so Portland has become unsafe with some areas becoming "no-go zones". I must add that it isn't just black crime but also the alt-left Antifa fascists who make Portland unsafe. But to illustrate the difference; even the fascists Antifa won't go into the black no-go zones after dark.

Re millennials:
I find it interesting about how many millennials place blame for their situation at least in part on the decline of unionization. Very few of them seem to be talking about how they went to trade school to learn how to set up turret lathes and program CNC milling machines and now can't find work. They have neither the desire or skills to perform the jobs that they decry don't exist. There just never were jobs in their preferred fields for all of the psych, Soc, and studies majors who find themselves pouring $5 cups of coffee.

Say what you like about package tracking apps, but I love them.

I'm investing now in a great big mailbox, so maybe a few more of my packages will be delivered to me instead of dropped back off at the post office ten miles away.

As for being old, it's been a long time since I imagined I could successfully flirt with some random elderly French stranger who was looking for a casual dalliance with a woman-child.

This mindfulness thing seems really misguided. I'm no expert but it strikes me as a consumerist activity: you observe and take in your surroundings, you don't actually DO anything.

Women over 50: This is biology 101. It isn't man's fault, it isn't woman's fault. It is natural. Women enjoy a feminine power between 13 and 35 or so after that "not so much". For most women in middle age and beyond it is no big deal they have lost interest in sex and thus dress and add weight to make themselves less attractive to avoid sex. It is only that small minority of women who seek plastic surgery and other ways of retaining their youth after 50 who care and even then it isn't for the sex it is for the attention. SO I don't see why this is a problem. The younger women like and seek sex and the older women don't like it and avoid it and this guy is playing exactly by those rules.

Studies across the board show that the most desired age for a woman by men of ALL ages, is "22". So, yes, Biology.

Even if a woman manages to stay fit and is "younger looking" thanks to her genes, it's only with the help of PS and/or a great number of aids (Face peels, botox injections, expensive cremes, make-up...) that they can look presentable naked. But even the best are subject to drooping, sagging, blotchiness and crepey-ness over time! Can't beat nature, the sun or gravity!

Face it, ladies: women age like milk; men like fine wine!
