We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
The special child--that young innocent, who from early age (2?) showed a remarkably advanced mental capacity--where does that come from? I am not speaking about the idiot savant. But, we have all seen them: those young babies who at a very early age demonstrate comprehension and verbal skills way beyond others in their same age group. Just exactly what training, or experience, provides for an advanced degree of "early childhood learning"? Why are some 4 year olds way ahead of others in their same age group regardless of social/economic community? What is that set of teaching skills that a mother on heroin brings to her child that may even be better than those skills a young mother in the big house on the hill offers to her child? It happens very very early and is critical to each child's life long development.
