We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Along these lines, I once gave a gift of the intensive, two-week Design Build Class from The Shelter Institute, just up the road from us in Woolwich, Maine, to my wife and our eldest son. Seems decades ago, but that gift keeps on giving in terms of useful knowledge that those two share and employ...

I went on an Outward Bound trip in the North Cascades some 35 years ago. I wasn't as fit as I should have been, but loved it any way. Good for my self-confidence, because it was well outside of my comfort zone. I did it to try to lose my fear of heights--it didn't work--but was a great experience nonetheless.
