We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Predictably, Donald Trump was attacked both by the establishment and the media as “crude,” “unpresidential,” and “gratuitous” for a recent series of blunt and graphic statements on a variety of current policies. Oddly, the implied charge this time around was not that Trump makes up stuff, but that he said things that were factual but should not be spoken.
In truth, that image up there only served to reinforce my conviction that the media just grasps at whatever copy it can to suit the needs of the moment, today's headline story obliterating any conscious thought about yesterday's.
Say what you like about National Enquirer and Midnight Globe but at least they make no pompous and pretentious claims about their cheerful hokum.
That is Not the America I know. In OK there are churches everywhere and they are filled up. Even the Catholic churches, which are a very small minority here, are growing. We have more local seminary students this year than in the history of the diocese. My parish has two priests, and the previous priest, who are native Okies.
