"Autistic Children Pushed to Become Transgender"

Can confirm. My 15-year-old stepdaughter, who is gay and on the autism spectrum, is currently being turned into my 'stepson'. She started on testosterone injections in January, and is planning on getting a double mastectomy next year.

This is a kid who spent her childhood in pink frilly dresses, going to dance class in her pink leotard, and who loved going shopping at the mall. But then puberty hit, she came out as gay in the 7th grade, her friends disappeared, she fell down the internet rabbit hole - 4 hours a day online every day after school, 8-10 hours a day on the weekends - and emerged a year later saying that she was trans. All of the counselors and therapists she has seen since then have affirmed her claims without ever asking questions about how this happened and why. (To ask questions is considered transphobic nowadays.) The threat of suicide is being used as a cudgel to ensure that parents are supportive of their child transitioning "or else".

It's a fad. Social contagion is real, but it doesn't seem as though any of the health professionals involved are even remotely concerned about that possibility. All systems are go on transitioning teens with hormones and surgery with no questions allowed.

You're right, transitioning is very expensive. The therapists, the psychiatrist, the pediatric endocrinologist, the new hairstyle, the new wardrobe - including co-pays and out of pocket expenses it's cost somewhere around $10, and that's not including probably another $15-20K that health insurance has paid out.

The double mastectomy with liposuction will cost around $15K assuming there are no complications, and finally the testosterone will be $100 a month for the rest of her life.

So about $50,000 to do the initial transition, plus a lifetime dependence on supplemental hormones. And after ten years on testosterone, a full hysterectomy is recommended because of vaginal prolapse becoming common at that point. What a great fad.

How I wish being goth was still the fad of choice for socially awkward teenagers...
