Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Nobody wants these men: That one little thing the caravan organizers got caught flatfooted on...

There's another component to the rage of Tijuanans (and others in the Mexican border states). Many of them cross the border daily to work legally in the US, and then go home at night. If Trump ends up closing the border completely, those people are screwed, and it's the fault of the migrant caravans.
But I thought that the caravan was made up of women and children fleeing domestic violence??
That's what all the stories and pictures from the BBC told me... To add insult to injury it is a 501c3 organization, so thank you very much, citizens, for underwriting this venture.
Nothing says I love America like flying the flag of another country. About the only thing worse would be if they take a knee when the national anthem is played.
QUOTE: Invasion Update ... await to be processed for their fake asylum claims Famous invasions in history: 1941 CE: The German army await to be legally processed for their asylum claims into France. 1209 CE: Mongols await to be legally processed for their asylum claims into China. 121 BCE: Romans await to be legally processed for their asylum claims into Gaul. Mixing non sequiturs with a little pedantry in a lame attempt at relevance.
Somehow it doesn't quite work. 😯 So, explain your position. Do you want millions and millions of illegal aliens to enter the country and stay maybe even get amnesty??? No double talk or evading the question. Is that what you want or not?
Anon: So, explain your position.
Our position is obvious. Don't call people who are legally applying for asylum an "invasion". in·va·sion
/inˈvāZHən/ noun -an instance of invading a country or region with an armed force. "the Allied invasion of Normandy" synonyms:occupation, capture, seizure, annexation, annexing, takeover; More -an incursion by a large number of people or things into a place or sphere of activity. "stadium guards are preparing for another invasion of fans" synonyms:influx, inundation, flood, rush, torrent, deluge, avalanche, juggernaut "an invasion of tourists" -an unwelcome intrusion into another's domain. "random drug testing of employees is an unwarranted invasion of privacy" synonyms:violation, infringement, interruption, intrusion, encroachment, disturbance, disruption, breach "an invasion of my privacy" Thanks kiddiez. Once again y'all have proven your deliberate misapplication of terms you use. 😉 These folks only request asylum if they get caught while crossing the border illegally. If they don't get caught then they don't make the claim -- they just enter the United States and travel to their chosen destination, get an under-the-table job, and live their lives. Easy peasy.
JM01: These folks only request asylum if they get caught while crossing the border illegally
According to the article, they are applying at the border in Tijuana.

Well you didn't answer. Color me shocked. What is your position on the massive immigration? Should we stop it or allow it to grow? Should we give amnesty to illegals who are here now? Simple questions.
Anon: Well you didn't answer.
Actually, we responded to the first part, to explain our position. As for your other questions, countries have a right to control their borders, but also have a responsibility to help refugees. Reestablishing a stable society in Honduras will alleviate much of the problem. In the long term, the U.S. not imploding any more countries would do much to prevent a recurrence.

What if a million refugees show up do we take them all? How about 5 million or 10 million? Is there no point where we would say that we must think of American citizens first? I think we have taken in too many already and it's time to throw them all back.
What makes you think we have a responsibility to take in refugees? Who should pay for these refugees? All the tax payers or just the ones that think we have a responsibility to take them in?

Anon: What if a million refugees show up do we take them all?
Lebanon and Jordan have accepted over 1 million Syrian refugees each, with a population of 6 million and 10 million respectively. Turkey has accepted over 3 million Syrian refugees, with a population of 80 million. The U.S. helped implode the Middle East, so they bear some responsibility. In any case, the U.S. is bound by international law and its own law to accept refugees. The U.S. has been a historical refuge for refugees. Anon: What makes you think we have a responsibility to take in refugees? Under the 1967 Protocol relating to the Status of Refugees, the U.S. has promised to accept refugees. U.S. Public Law 96-212 was enacted to implement U.S. obligations under the treaty.

So you still didn't answer. You are afraid to answer directly. The only thing I can conclude from your answer is that we should send all the refuges to Jordan and Syria.
Yes I know that or leaders have screwed us over and signed agreements to take in refugees but as I interpret the constitution it is OUR country and this decision should be made by the citizens. IMHO we should end it immediately AND work hard to repatriate all past refugees.

Anon: So you still didn't answer.
In fact, we answered "What is your position on the massive immigration?" saying "Countries have a right to control their borders, but also have a responsibility to help refugees." In other words, there is a balance to be struck. We also pointed out ways to address the long-term problem. Anon: The only thing I can conclude from your answer is that we should send all the refuges to Jordan and Syria. Actually, you were the one who posed a hypothetical question about a million refugees, and we happen to have real-world examples with the Syrian refugee crisis. Much smaller and poorer countries have accepted their responsibilities with regards to refugees. Anon: Yes I know that or leaders have screwed us over and signed agreements to take in refugees The Protocol relating to the Status of Refugees was ratified by the Senate unanimously. The U.S. Refugee act was passed with overwhelming majorities in the U.S. Congress, and signed into law by the President. Anon: but as I interpret the constitution it is OUR country and this decision should be made by the citizens. The U.S. Constitution has explicit mechanisms for the election of representatives, for ratification of treaties, and for the passage of legislation.

Here is the problem the Democrats pose for America:
http://michaelpramirez.com/changing-borders-of-the-united-states-brought-to-you-by-the-democratic-party-as-seen-by-cartoonist-michael-p-ramirez.html This is the Democrat plan. This is your plan and why you won't answer the question. It is not the American citizens plan but they are being left out by the radical left wing Democrat party.
