We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
So sorry for your loss BD. I had a very similar one during the summer. Very hard to deal with when family friendlies. I hope and pray for you to find peace through the “Big Guy” ( my language when I invoke a deity, which in my case is JC and His Father and Holy Spirit.) I miss my brother in law almost daily. God bless.
I come from a huge family; we were the first kids born here, our parents/uncles, etc were the first migration wave, typical immigrant in the northeast - clustering together, nearby housing, constant socializing within the family. Lots of cousins.
Best thing about it: the memories.
Worst thing: the inevitable funerals as father Time comes calling.
respectfully,
