Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

She was hot for Judge and he rejected her.
She waited for revenge. Oh, and she's a nut job from the east coast who is ruining my state. QUOTE: It turns out the American Bar Association story on Brett Kavanaugh was FAKE NEWS "The American Bar Association urges the United States Judiciary Committee (and, as appropriate, the full Senate) to conduct a confirmation vote on Judge Kavanaugh's nomination to the Supreme Court of the United States only after an appropriate background check into the allegation made by Professor Ford and others is completed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation." Bird Dog: It was a draft, never approved by the board.
It wasn't a draft. It was a letter from the President of the American Bar Association representing the leadership's position. You are probably thinking of the ABA's Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary, which had no part in the letter. Wrong again. The committee that evaluates prospective judges did not see that letter and still supports the Kavanaugh nomination. The president was acting on his own. (https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/american-bar-association-committee-still-stands-behind-kavanaugh).
This whole thing is not even a joke. There is no supporting evidence for Ford's allegation and her story changes daily. mudbug: Wrong again.
You referred to "the board", which typically refers to the board of directors. The president of the American Bar Association appoints members of the committee. The committee, which evaluates prospective judges did not send the letter. The letter came from the president of the American Bar Association representing the leadership's position. In what respect is our position "wrong"?

If so, who comprise the leadership and what are their politics? Bingo.

My apologies for not carefully reading your post.
My point stands. The president of the ABA acted on his own. Assuming you are correct that the president appoints the committee to evaluate judges (I'm not aware of how the committee is chosen), the people he chose, who would be expected to have particular and expansive expertise in this field and is chosen to speak for the ABA in those matters still support the Kavanaugh nomination. Ergo, the ABA has not changed its view. BD mentioned "board", not me, but his point stands too. To repeat, the committee which is tasked to evaluate judges and speak for the ABA about - i.e. giving approval or disapproval, including the level of approval or disapproval - did not change their assessment of Kavanaugh after Friday's testimony or the president's letter. Whether the president's letter was a draft or not is really immaterial to the issue at hand.

Should be:
"Whether the president's letter was a draft or not is really material to the issue at hand."

Ask the LiarBot where it's evidence of a crime is. Or was it Possible Cause or another of the LiarBot's many deflections and diversions?

mudbug: The president of the ABA acted on his own.
The president indicated he was speaking on behalf of the American Bar Association. That means it's not "fake news", as alleged, even if mistaken. mudbug: Assuming you are correct that the president appoints the committee to evaluate judges (I'm not aware of how the committee is chosen) See here. mudbug: the people he chose, who would be expected to have particular and expansive expertise in this field and is chosen to speak for the ABA in those matters still support the Kavanaugh nomination. Ergo, the ABA has not changed its view. The two views are not in contradiction. One can have found someone is "well qualified", while also calling for an investigation into recent allegations. mudbug: Whether the president's letter was a draft or not is really material to the issue at hand. It wasn't a draft.

Any lawyer knows the ABA doesn't even remotely speak for lawyers as a whole.
Ford's motive, or the motives of whoever is manipulating this obviously fragile and damaged woman, aren't mysterious. I doubt they're personal. They believe it's more important to stop the appointment of an anti-abortion Constitutional constructionalist than to consider any possible individual damage to a white male Republican or his fellow-traveller family. The ABA is like the AMA. Most avoid the organizations.
I found it very instructive when W. Bush said that the ABA rating for his judges would not be determinative, the left went nuts saying that the ABA was the "Gold Standard." Then when his judges were actually rated highly by the ABA, the left attacked his nominees as being unqualified. Like so many things, to the left, something is what it is for as long as it serves the purposes of the left and no longer.
I find myself wondering what would drive a middle-aged woman to seek to destroy a splendid and honorable family man who she alleges attempted to grope her 35-37 years ago at a high school beer party? Seems evil to me. Lucky me, I guess, but I was testosterone-fueled when I was 17 but the gals seemed hormone-fueled too.
Then wait until you are nominated for the SCOTUS. . . . If any of the young ladies you knew grew up to become radical left wing activists like the evil professor . . . I bring again to this conversation the subject of YOUR DAUGHTERS!
1. Have they been inducted into the extreme single mom network work/education leadership network? 2. Are they old sorority sisters who now run amok in the Junior League network? 3. Or, has your ex wife gotten them connected to the single fem/nazi leadership network in your local university? How about the judge's and attorney's wives in your local hometown--how well co-ordinated is their "behind the scenes" Mentorship program. What you haven't heard of that? All ye men of the bar you should start asking yourselves--just how does my ex-wife, my wife, my daughter make use of my position in the community? Do they sell/ trade jobs for illegal services-- You know the dirty tricks squad? Did my ex-wife teach my daughter that "it's ok to steal (plagiarize) a man's writings because women have been "held back for so long--it's the only way to catch up?" Does your long absent daughter suddenly re-appear on the scene? Why is that? Does she drill you for information about your work--why is that? Better still does she make up stories to defame her "absent father"? Did you try to enforce your visitation rights time after time only to have the court rule in your favor, but your ex-wife to just ignore the rulings. There are two generations of women who were raised without their fathers--now they are in their 40's fat, unloved and without their own family. How criminal is their behavior in the work place? When, oh when, can we expect the court system to uphold slander against these older gals--probably never--don't waste your money. But, "oh daddy--we missed so much!" Yeah dear you really did--mostly you missed an education in self restraint, decency, ethics, etc. But, not to worry your so fat now no man is ever going to think of you as "just a "breeder"! For having an opinion that anon disagrees with. Best choice is to ignore the comment.
Tucker is spot on regarding Kavanaugh
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcSw48pjZ3w The Democrats by all their actions represent a threat to our country. Not just the Borking of Kavanaugh, not just the hiring of violent radical activists to act out for the Camera's, not just for the open borders, sanctuary cities and massive crime wave of illegal aliens, Not just for their collusion with Soros and foreign money and influence, not just for their use of government power and illegal use of our legal system against their enemies and their country, but for all of this and more. I fear the Democrats and what they are doing in the shadows. I fear that they will steal this election just as they have stolen many elections and once in power they will deliver the coup de gras to our constitution. I fear that our Republican elected leaders are too weak/timid to deal with this evil facing them. Pray for us because I don't have a good feeling about this November.
