Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Slovenia

Friend just back from trip to Slovenia and Croatia (and a bit of Istanbul).  This is Lake Bled. I'll post some more of their pics later.

I've walked right around Lake Bled a couple of times and been over to the island church. It's a beautiful spot (Tito had a state residence there that is now a hotel).

Most memorable was a cold, crisp December day with brilliant blue skies - we were in Slovenia for Christmas in 2006. The country is one of the best kept secrets in Europe. A gem.

If friend came home from Slovenia and Croatia via Istanbul, he/she shonuff took the long way.

Not really. A quick search shows 2 direct 2-hour flights between Istanbul and Zagreb per day. And there's a daily non-stop between BOS and IST. It was probably a package deal on Turkish Air.

Yes, they took Turkish Air. Great food on that. Turkish food is yummy.
