That’s what I was thinking. And I’m not a big cat fan. Although they can kind of grow on you. Seems like an over reaction, to ban all cats. Can’t you just keep them inside?

You deserve the rats for getting rid of the cats! They serve a purpose. It's kind of like those people that don't like the pesky mosquitoes and want them all gone but it doesn't occur to them that they are the food source for numerous small animals like the birds, frogs and toads. I also used to hear about the idiots that wished all bees were gone so they couldn't be stung again. Maybe they want to take up the job of hand pollinating plants to produce food and such. Make much honey? They were put on this earth for a reason.

We had a black racer that took care of rats. After the snake disappeared, we got rats. But now we have more lizards. There's a reason I don't overtreat my lawn with pesticides; nature (frogs, toads, lizards, and the occasional snake) does a pretty good job of keeping things in check. My wife won't let me shoot my neighbors "free range" cats that go after birds. I loath cats.

My father used to kill every snake he saw on the farm and then he and my mother were miffed at the increased rat and mice population. I never could get them to under stand the probable cause.

Are you in New Zealand? The issue there is that the native birds never had four-legged predators before such creatures came along with the European settlers. This is not such an issue in Europe and the Americas.

In the UK, the official stance of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) based upon studies they have funded is that free-roaming domestic cats don't kill enough prey to be a hazard to any UK bird population, although feral cats, who depend on killing prey as their only source of food, can be.

Rail transit...politicians love it because it makes them feel like they are an "up and coming" modern metropolis instead of financially inept spenders. Minnesota's light and heavy rail don't sell enough tickets to riders to even cover half the maintenance and overhead... and was never intended to even cover the 1 billion capital cost to install it. They just rob from the road and vehicle tax funds. Then road infrastructure crumbles and they grouse about priorities and lack of tax income. Politicians have no concept of priorities..they want it all.

Trolleys, light rail and heavy rail are wastes of money in all but a handful of cities, those with a well-defined downtown and a hub-and-spoke commute.

Buses are preferred over all kinds of trains because they are cheaper to build and run; they use less fuel and generate fewer emissions per passenger mile; and they are infinitely more flexible and adaptable to changing needs.

Agreed. That PhD candidate at Columbia in urban planning believes a myth. People did not abandon rapid transit because of "services," but because it is inconvenient and inflexible. There needs to be sufficient population density at every stop or it loses money. Some places do have that density, but not many.

No one seriously expects a church to be 100% pure and holy, but it's not too much to ask that an institution should police itself more or less honestly. It's a very serious thing to cover up a pederast's crimes and inflict him on a new and unsuspecting community. If this were only about orthodoxy or sexual purity, I'd say it was an internal matter for the Church, but that's not what we're facing. I don't expect a priest to be any more immune than any other mortal, for instance, to the temptation to steal, but if the Church were deliberately and systematically abetting priests in embezzling from lay organizations, I'd expect reform and change.

The Bible is very clear on all of this. The fact we have discarded the teachings and commands of Scripture because they require standards of behavior has led to this.

Is South Africa quietly planning a genocide? Not at all, they're quite open and public about what's coming. The silence you're hearing isn't coming from the South African government, it's coming from the press. Because it's racist to criticize black people, don't you know. Excuse me, African African-Americans. It's racist to hold black people to the same standards as white people, racist to fail to treat people differently based on their race. It's the tolerant inclusive non-racist cultural relativists who understand that black folks are just helpless little nappy-headed monkeys who can't possibly be expected to have the sophisticated moral and intellectual systems of civilized society that us white folks have. And that's perfectly okay. Laudable, even. Now excuse me, I have to go throw up.

Many are leaving the Church in disgust. They are cowardly fools. By this act they can only intend to surrender the governance of the Church to devils. They abandon Christ on the hill of Calvary. Fools, because they will not find salvation in any other quarter.

I agree with Warren here. If the heirarchy will not expel corrupt priests, then the people must. The only question is whether expulsion will be gentle: stripped naked, held in stocks to be disgraced, and branded with a scarlet P, or whether expulsion will be harsh: guillotine or firing squad.

Ah, yes, the "Vicar of Christ" is so, so . . . How can any sane person believe that bullshit? Ever notice that the true Christian church , the Orthodox Church in the East, seems never to have these scandals. St. Martin the Luther had the solution: get rid of the doctrine of celibate priests and all the other crap the R.C. has laid upon the masses as the one and only, true Christian church. Transubstantiation, only source for salvation: giggle, snicker. The institution is rotten to the core.

So, AVI, in answer to your question: nope, and I don't care. Can you answer your question? Are you so naive as to think that if the Church in the East had predatory priest it wouldn't be well known? I do know that the bishop of Rome cares more about environmental hoaxes than priests molesting children. By the way AVI, that isn't an attempt at a cute insult it is a simple response to papist bullshit which deserves nothing but scorn and contempt.

It was St Paul that preferred the doctrine of celibate priests as it was the duty of every man to first tend to his family in an emergency or chaotic situation. St Paul thought priests should have the congregation as a family so that they could counsel them during an emergency. The doctrine was not thoughtlessly considered but like all doctrine it does require good men. Marxists knew they had to infiltrate and destroy the church as it was a major opponent to their heaven on earth mantra. Homosexuals were the perfect weapon.

That's simply because the Orthodox Church has no visibility in the West at all and thus its peccadilloes never command the attention of the media. The US Orthodox Christian population is barely more than five million (compare the US Catholic population at 70 million).

I have close friends who are very strong Ukrainian Orthodox Christians; they could tell a distressing thing or two about their church.
