We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Children of BPD mothers who are adopted at birth and raised by others have an increased risk of BPD. Most psychologists try to twist this into an idea that simply being adopted increases the sense of insecurity and thus risk. Hard to disprove, but not very convincing. BPD has a heritable component.
Conservatives are as bad as liberals on this one, maybe worse. Genetics is the enormous factor, followed by random noise/luck, followed by a small and unproven amount of environmental factors.
The only measurable environmental factors are things like eating lead paint, being in a concentration camp, or abandonment and no physical contact in the first year. Whether you had a strict dad, or a lot of books in the home, or a good elementary school has no measurable difference.
Intuitively, we think that such things cannot be true. We just know from what happened in our neighborhood or to our grandpa that environment matters a lot. That intuition is wrong.
