We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I'm no fan of "Camera" Hogg, but I can't blame him. If I were to visit NY, I'd want to bring at least an armored division with me. With an air wing accompanying.
Oh, hell, just dust off & nuke it from orbit.
But, even when I was there in '88, you just had to keep your wits about you and avoid places that are trendy now, especially after dark. Big cities are nice places to visit, sometimes, but I wouldn't want to live there.
I was in NYC in 1988. The subways were a frightening place to be. I was mighty glad to get back home. I've been to New York several times. It's an OK place to visit, but I sure as hell would not want to live there.
