Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Tuesday, June 12. 2018DeNiro and HollywoodWhy the hatred? Is it fashion, is it about personality style, or is it about policy? Hatred is ugly. If it's about policy, I'd like to know what these people object to with their megaphones, not that their opinions deserve to be of any more interest than my own are. As I recall, many of my pals hated Obama's policies, but never had a visceral hatred for the man himself. I'd gladly have a beer or two with Obama anytime because I think he is a clever bullshitter. Glib clever bullshitters amuse me. Also, Robert De Niro Just Handed Trump’s 2020 Campaign A Blank Check

When emotions are all you have to judge by --'If it feels good, do it.' -- anger and hate are the strongest emotions. When others are the cause of all your problems,-- anger and hate are your strongest emotions. This downward spiral leaves one helpless and angry and out of options but violence.
I like the angry idea. He's probably mostly angry that his Tribe came that .. close to being In. Charge. Permanently.
DeNiro, like De Caprio, is a high school dropout who does not know anything but thinks saying his lines makes him intelligent.
I like some of his movies, like Casino, but his good movies were decades ago. DeNiro is just one of the empty pretenders giving a speech at the Best Pretender Awards. If he did not have a pretend script on a pretend set on which to pretend he is somebody, he would be an empty nobody.
Speak to us of morals, Bobby.
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/the-sex-scandal-that-wouldnt-lie-down-1185127.html Exactly. Something to hide, Bobby?
https://i.imgur.com/3P31I2B.jpg Judging from how scared DeNiro looks here, it seems like he might be worried about investigators from the Justice Department rather than some #metoo activists showing up at his door... AS my father would explain to me: "I grew up around Italians. That's just how they talk, since they have no brains. And besides, they're all mommas' boys!"
Isn't he just the bravest, speaking truth to power like that?
I assume the crowd booed him off the stage, chased him out of the building and was screaming he'd never work in this town again. That is what happened, right? Then if not, why is anybody cheering him? It's gutless. Poor old guy. It used to be that most people knew to give an old coot in his cups a wide berth.
Why the hatred? Is it fashion, is it about personality style, or is it about policy?
Trump is a showman, a style very compatible with Hollywood. It's not personality style. Those Hollywood clowns couldn't identify a policy if a policy whacked them upside the head. It's fashion. As I haven't paid for a movie ticket in years, and my last DVD purchase was 6 old Hollywood movies for $5 out of a WalMart bin, I can't much change my spending habits to hurt Hollywood. Eh. didn't Embed. Pity. Explains everything in a minute.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BI851yJUQQw I love hakas. Here's one of my favorites. Go all the way to the end.

I used to watch Rugby with my Father and this brings back some happy memories. I enjoyed the Anglican (Church of England) Our Father at the end.
I'd gladly have a beer or two with Obama anytime because I think he is a clever bullshitter. Glib clever bullshitters amuse me.
I would take issue with that. 0bama is a BS artist, to be sure . . . but only if it is scripted, as in he can read it from a teleprompter. He's not so good at it if he has to improvise. I agree. I wouldn't enjoy being around someone who openly loathes people like me (he says I cling to guns and God).
I was going to come here and point out how weird it would be if an entire industry had openly insulted and threatened Obama the way that the entertainment industry has done Trump. I can't wrap my brain around that happening. Thank you DeNiro. Thanks to everyone in the crowd. I prefer honesty to backstabbing and sabotage. Please keep exposing your biases and agenda.
Et tu DeNiro. Trump sure does get inside their OODA loops, so that they are left flailing and shaking their fists in the air.
No, wouldn't have a beer with Obama. If he were being thrashed to a pulp, I'd have to ascertain the assailant's motivation before determining whether to intervene.
The News Junkie: As I recall, many of my pals hated Obama's policies, but never had a visceral hatred for the man himself.
Don't get out much, do you? another attempt to muddy the water by you and your minions.
It is a big difference to hate Obama's actions rather than hating the man. I don't think many of those of us on the right hated the man at all. I listed some of my differences with him on policy further up the thread. At no point did I ever say I wanted him dead. Do you need me to link you some of your people on the left wanting Trump to die? Or are you willing to concede that your side has a deranged hatred for our duly elected president? Dangerous Dean: Do you need me to link you some of your people on the left wanting Trump to die?
Whatabout! Dangerous Dean: It is a big difference to hate Obama's actions rather than hating the man. If you don't think there was a visceral hatred of Obama when he was in office, then you weren't paying attention. None of the many who hate Obama hate him because he's competent.
If you don't think there was a visceral hatred of Obama when he was in office, then you weren't paying attention.
From Donald Trump in music, here are some songs with some visceral hatred of Donald Trump. QUOTE: 2015–2016, during Trump's presidential race and election "El Chapo" by The Game (2015): "This is goons day, I can have Guadalupe / Come through and knock Donald Trump out his toupee"[21] "Dats It Fa Ya" by DJ Paul & Juicy J (2015): "On that presidential skunk, that's that Donald Trump" "Free Enterprises" by Rick Ross (2015): "Assassinate Trump like I'm Zimmerman"[2] "FDT" YG & Nipsey Hussle (2016): "Fuck Donald Trump"[2] "Bad Boy on Death Row" by Dave East (2016): "Donald Trump ain't safe on my block, gotcha your wifey at IHOP"[2] "Nobody Speak" by DJ Shadow featuring Run the Jewels (2016): "Flame your crew quicker than Trump fucks his youngest" [2] "Viva Presidente Trump" by Brujeria (2016)[33] . From the link:Mexican-American metal band Brujería joins the anti-Trump movement with new song "Viva Presidente Trump," released today (May 13) on digital platforms. The band is currently showcasing in South America with their tour "Fu** Donald Trump." 2017-18 "Rockabye Baby" by Joey Badass: "Time is running up, feel the burn in my gut / And if you got the guts, scream, 'Fuck Donald Trump'"[37] "Free Steven Avery (Wrong America)" by Cabbage: "Death to Donald Trump/ Death to Donald Trump/ There's something about politics in America/ Death to Donald Trump/ Death to Donald Trump/ There's something about politics in America..."[41] Please find us the songs with an equivalent amount of visceral hatred of Barack Obama. Inquiring minds want to know. From the Donald Trump in music link: "El Presidente" by Gwar (citation needed)
If citation is what you need, citation is what you get: El Presidente_GWAR QUOTE: I want to kill the president and I don't need a gun Say no more, as Monty Python once told us.I want to fuck the government, I want to fuck a nun I want to paint the world in blood and pave the streets in bone The killing won't come to an end until I take the throne..... ou will serve them no more El Presidente and his whore They will die by my sword All will bow. Gringo: here are some songs with some visceral hatred of Donald Trump.
Whatabout! Gringo: Please find us the songs with an equivalent amount of visceral hatred of Barack Obama. While the right is not normally characterized by the quality of its protest music, you could just google videos for "f*ck Obama" and get a plethora of anti-Obama songs and rants. QUOTE: Donald Trump, Republican president, Obama "is the founder of ISIS". Roy Moore, endorsed for Senate by Republican president, "Obama-Clinton Machine, Forces of Evil" trying to silence him. Ben Shapiro, writer and frequent Fox News pundit, "Obama was an evil traitor to America". Robert Spencer, frequent Fox News pundit, "Obama's Treason: Even worse than we thought." Donald Trump, Republican president, "An ‘extremely credible source’ has called my office and told me that @BarackObama's birth certificate is a fraud.” Ted Nugent, friend of Trump, "Obama, he's a piece of shit. I told him to suck on my machine gun. Hey Hillary," "You might want to ride one of these into the sunset, you worthless bitch." Barack Obama, former President, "People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love." Bill Carson: None of the many who hate Obama hate him because he's competent. At least Bill Carson addressed the topic. Yes, there are people on the right who hate the secret Muslim, Kenyan usurper, intent on destroying America. Gringo:Please find us the songs with an equivalent amount of visceral hatred of Barack Obama.
Z-Team :While the right is not normally characterized by the quality of its protest music.. Your not being aware of those songs doesn't mean they don't exist. Ray Stevens's Mr. President does a rather good - and widely viewed- job of protesting President Obama's policies. Note that it does so without the "Fuck..kill the President" level of the songs I cited. Ray Stevens is apparently more literate than the anti-Trump songwriters I cited. Also note that the songs I cited, all but one had some obscenity or violence directed at Trump. Exception: the one that merely called Trump a skunk. Of the SPEAKERS you cited, only Ted Nugent directed some obscenity directed at Obama. None directed violence towards Obama. you could just google videos for "f*ck Obama" and get a plethora of anti-Obama songs and rants. Funny thing; Google video hits on "fuck trump": 8.3 million. Google video hits on "fuck obama." 1.3 million hits. So why have YOU not been able to show us equivalent songs with visceral hatred of Obama? Conclusion: you cannot find any equivalent songs. You concede my point. Thread topic: Robert DeNiro drops F word on Trump.
Z-Team:with no documentation. QUOTE: If you don't think there was a visceral hatred of Obama when he was in office, then you weren't paying attention. Gringo W LINK QUOTE: here are some songs with some visceral hatred of Donald Trump. ZTeam QUOTE: Whatabout! When the original topic of the thread was visceral hatred of Trump, as shown by DeNiro's rant, I fail to see how my well-documented examples of visceral hatred of Trump is "whataboutism." Which is why you merit unmitigated contempt. Andate, pues Ciao. Gringo: Thread topic: Robert DeNiro drops F word on Trump.
Yes. However, this is the claim in the original post of which we took note: "As I recall, many of my pals hated Obama's policies, but never had a visceral hatred for the man himself." While we can't speak to The News Junkie's personal experience, one would have to have not been paying attention not to notice the visceral hatred many people on the political right expressed for Obama. Gee whiz. The President-to-be claimed that Obama was a foreign usurper. Gringo: Google video hits on "fuck obama." 1.3 million hits Proving the point that significant numbers of people on the political right "had a visceral hatred for the man himself." Actually, it doesn't prove anything of the sort.
Anger is not always visceral hatred. I scrolled through a few pages of those links and they do not all go to sites expressing that sentiment. Some go to liberals angry at Obama for not going after his opponents hard enough. Some go to selling merchandise. Some go to multiple news stories about single incidents. Some people may indeed have visceral hatred of Obama. As visceral means of the feelings, exclusive of the intellect, you have provided only spotty, often ambiguous evidence for that. People can be very angry for fully intellectual reasons. For a comparison from Truman through Obama, note that it is Democrats who seem particularly unwilling to give a Republican president a chance, while at least some Republicans are willing to give new Democratic presidents a chance. https://assistantvillageidiot.blogspot.com/2017/02/approval-ratings.html Assistant Village Idiot: Anger is not always visceral hatred.
No, but these sentiments, as noted above, are not just anger over policy, but speak of contempt for the person: f*ck you evil evil traitor treasonous foreign usurper piece of sh!t

Or you could just read some of the comments on this forum.
Just posted on another thread: "bucktooth, faggot-faced, Communist street protester rammed his tongue up Raul Castro's anus? Did they freak out or call it wisdom? Leftists are the scum of this earth. Pretending they aren't sub-human is the first habit to break. They are vermin."

The irony here is that De Niro seems like a "wannabe-Trump":
He's full of braggadocio (though Trump doesn't stoop to routinely peppering his statements with foul language). He's intimately involved in high-flying real estate developments through his company, Nobu Hospitality. Also, he’s an actor (and like all actors, he loves an adoring audience). So perhaps some of his ridiculous bile stems from plain old-fashioned envy? |
