Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

" Obama – Just Too Good for Us"
Oh boy! More wit and wisdom from that dried-up, old Catholic school girl-hag, who remains heartbroken over Mikey Douglass stiffing her for a REAL woman! Maureen, come out from the shadows and try to get laid again by a man, (not by some hard-up cabana boy). It may improve your outlook on life, add to your IQ and spiff up your writing as well! Opioid policy fallout- more fear mongering, coming from elitists (this time MDs).
The fact that opioids were pushed based on scant evidence (that's generous) that they wouldn't cause addiction, https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMc1700150 indicates that the medical community has been making misinformed decisions. But now they are arguing that they are capable of making sound decisions, even though the questions are still muddled, let alone finding actual answers. I get tired of reading how the world will end if every self-proclaimed expert doesn't reside above scrutiny. Italy is literally getting invaded. The human traffickers and NGOs are using Italy as a front door to Europe. They are flooding the country with violent young men who have no education or ability to care for themselves other than to take what they want from someone else. I do not understand why any country facing illegal immigration does not treat it like a criminal invasion and apprehend, imprison and deport. To do any less is suicide.
In Europe the destructive force behind letting them in is the European Union and in the Us the destructive force is the Democratic party with the help of some of the GOPE. I agree with you, it is sheer suicide.
In Europe it is the socialist/fascist/Marxist that are trying to make multiculturalism work no matter how many people are killed in the process...they want to blend Europeans into a gray, drab, globalist product that can keep the gears turning for the elitists like George Soros. In the US it is the Uniparty, media, academy, corporatists Marxists attempting the same drab, gray, globalist existence with a little help from the illegals and Soros to maintain the chaos until we are equally impoverished.
Obama too good for me? If by "too good" you mean too wrapped up in his own elite bubble to care about someone in flyover country trying to stay in the middle class? Yeah, then. Otherwise? Not so much.
Let's look at his legacy: Is racism more of a problem or less of a problem after "the first black president"*? More. And that is because he played the race card every time he didn't get his way. We all know what happens when you cry wolf. Was the economy better or worse because of Obama? Worse. Not close. Job losses were off the charts and his disdain for small business owners was obvious. A woman I worked with in 2010 told me that she and her husband both voted for O in 2008. As small business owners they were burned repeatedly by his policies in office. Was the world safer because of Obama? If you call giving Iran billions of dollars so that they could develop nuclear weapons to murder Israelis, then yes. Otherwise, no. Obama likely had to give Hilary the Sec of State job as payoff for blowing past her in the 2008 Democrat primaries. But he let her use the position as an unprecedented slush fund. She bungled Benghazi and then lied about why it was attacked. I heard that old "he had no scandals" trope the other day. But after I stopped laughing, I thought about Fast and Furious, the Loretta Lynch meeting with Bill Clinton while his wife was about to be indicted, the Iranian deal, Obama's lies about Obamacare and was overwhelmed. The media tell us that it is their job to expose things like this. It's why I am supposed to believe that the government had the right to spy on Trump, after all. Yet the mainstream media ignored these stories, hoping they would go away. So no, you moron. He wasn't too good for us. He was the worst president in our lifetimes (unless you were alive for Harding) and his allies in the media kept puffing his "greatness" while he ignored the Constitution whenever it suited him. DD, Even considering Harding, Lyndon Johnson and Carter, Obama is clearly the worst president, who has done more damage, than any other. It was intentional, not mere incompetence, political corruption or stupidity.
Found this at RCP via Instapundit. It makes some good points regarding the change in the Obama economy since Trump.

It will be interesting to see what kind of attendance/ratings the NFL gets this fall. They recently 'fixed' their problem with players not standing for the national anthem, after denying it was a problem for two years. Is it enough or id it too little too late? With the players threatening to boycott their games if cooperdick is not re-hired. That should hurt attendance even more.
nfl was a lucrative advertising platform based on a fairy tale of struggle, heroes, and maidens. The players and management have made it a political platform which destroys its mythology. Without attendance and viewership, the national felon's league is just expensive noise and smoke. "Is it enough or id it too little too late?"
Way too little. Way too late. Haven't watched a game in two years and most likely never will again. The NFL can rot. re Why Aren’t Liberals Celebrating Higher Gas Prices? It's What They Want - Democrats have spent the past two decades advocating for policies that artificially spike fossil fuel prices.
Heh. Indeed. When 0bama was in office the media spun higher energy prices as good for the economy. So are any dems advocating more drilling? I haven't seen any such positions taken yet. FM, but the New York Times' Tom Friedman, he of a gigantic carbon footprint mansion, must be overjoyed. His solution to the world's problems is high gas prices for everyone else who isn't rich.
“for years Friedman has been obsessed with the idea of implementing higher gas taxes”. https://www.mrc.org/biasalerts/ny-times-columnist-tom-friedman-calls-tax-keep-gas-4-gallon “Friedman lives in “a palatial 11,400-square-foot house... on a 7½-acre parcel” and he “married into one of the 100 richest families in the country” - the Bucksbaums, whose real-estate Empire is valued at $2.7 billion...” https://www.huffingtonpost.com/david-sirota/billionaire-scion-tom-fri_b_26164.html. Dangerous Dean, you gonna be in a speck of trouble once the Gang of Z checks in.
Evergreen State: It has capitulated to the Left and covered itself with ashes. New Jersey: Tax the Rich...and watch them move out of state. Obama Too Good For Us: MoDo makes me laugh at her. WaPoo Worried IG Report will be wielded by GOP (with VIGOR and ENTHUSIASM): Ohhhhh, the poor babyyyyyyyyyy. Soros disappointed by Italians: Ooooooh, poor babyyyyyy. If you mean that they will pick the least important part of my post and quibble with a tiny detail, then I might be in trouble. But the truth will survive their paid attempts to muddy the water.
DD, accurate analysis. I wonder if the zachtroll's sponsor, Soros foundation, or Clinton foundation or whatever, does an erffectiveness audit to see if their effort is well spent?
They could count the number of posters here who have been convinced by the zachriel assignment to this site. The number who are amused. (see what PC does to our language 1. BBQ smoke, BS flavor: If the study was conducted in China, was it the BBQ smoke, or just the worst ambient industrial pollution on earth?
2. NFL: Enjoy your richly deserved rewards, players and owners, and good luck winning the war on fan apathy. I've discovered some better things to do with my time, and the list begins with: Everything that isn't pro football. 3. Just too good for us: Who? Re NFL
I seem to recall an incident from many years ago with Linda Ronstadt. She was appearing in Las Vegas and started her performance by lecturing the audience on politics. The management had a chat with Linda and told her the people came to listen to her sing, not listen to her political lecture. If she wanted to lecture on politics, she could rent her own hall and pay for her own advertising for the event. Same applies to the NFL players. The NFL doesn't have to provide a venue for the players to promote their politics. Re: NFL
I suspect the attempt to portray Kaepernick as a latter-day Spartacus leading the gladiators in an uprising against their oppressors just isn't being bought by the fans. Kaepernick earned about $43 million from 2011 to 2016. Unlikely he will be killed in battle or physically crucified as a result of his actions.
Spartacus earnings: as a gladiator and slave, probably nothing apart from a few sesterces here and there to buy drinks after a successful fight. Killed in battle near modern Strongoli, Italy; 6,000 supporters crucified. Yeah, I don't think the "latter-day Spartacus" bit will wash either. |
