"Why Roseanne Barr Is a Thought Criminal but Not Bill Maher..."

Strangely, when I first heard of Barr's TV demise as a result of her tweet, the first person I thought of was the ever-smug, ever-insulting, foul-mouthed Maher.

Double standards? Perish the thought!

(Maher does have one quality though: he's about the only "cutting edge" entertainer who openly and routinely takes on Islam.)

As for Bill Maher, he's no longer on network television, and he was making a point about Trump's baseless claims about Obama's birthplace. You will note that rarely does a comparison to dogs create the same reaction.

There's a history involved.

Insults involving reference to apes have never been exclusively directed at blacks. Edwin Stanton infamously called Abraham Lincoln 'the original gorilla'.

Either insults are not legitimate debate tactics or they are. You're attempts at establishing a hierarchy of outrage are pretty transparently a way to excuse the ones you agree with as inconsequential.

It's doubtful if Barr's comments could be considered "debate". In any case, there are historical reasons why comparing blacks to apes is considered racist. You can pretend those reasons don't exist, but that doesn't constitute a valid argument.

Back in the eighties, Pan Am (or was it TWA) flew non-stop from Dhahran, Saudi Arabia to New York's JFK airport. The airplane was a Boeing 747 B-400. Total transit time: 21 hours. I think that one has Singapore Airlines' "longest flight" beat.

We had to fly against the jet stream so that added about 4 hours...

I remember it like it was yesterday. Our family took that route once. And only once. My Mom threatened to divorce my Dad if he ever booked us on that flight again. It was torturous!

You had it easy Steve. In the '50s I flew Super Connies 3-4 stops Dhahran to Charleston in a mere 80-90 hours (50-60 hours flying time). Dhahran-Tripoli-Madrid-Azores-Bermuda (if the headwinds were high)-Charleston. We took a 24 hr. layover in Madrid to give the passengers a break. Our loads were about half military (U.S. and Saudi) and half civilians, i.e. military families, gov't employees and famillies, DOD teachers, U.S. citizens stranded overseas and such.

feeb here, though not mentioned in this article, I recall reading that at one point, in Africa I think, they had to pass the hat among the passengers to buy gas for the plane. When they finally requested landing permission at La Guardia the tower was flabbergasted to hear them identify themselves as Pan Am flight blah blah blah, from Auckland to San Francisco.

It doesn't work because it has become race shaming and anti-white. It requires the participants to deny what their eyes can see and their ears can hear. In America there is indeed rampant racism black on white racism. If you are black it is 90% likely that violent crime against you will come from blacks and 8% from Hispanics. If you are white it is 80% likely that a violent crime against you will be committed by a black person and 8% likely by a Hispanic.

The purpose of Diversity sensitivity training is to continue to allow minorities to extort companies and individuals for money and privilege. To continue the myth that blacks suffer racism under a majority white population. And of course as a means for black racists to punish whites without consequences.

You conflated a lot of things to hide the truth. For example:

This tells us almost nothing because you lumped them all together. You did that because it hides the truth.

Not accurate. But let's use those numbers. 43% of white victims were than attacked by blacks. But while whites make up 70% of the population blacks only make up about 14% and most black criminals are male so what we have is 7% of the black population committing 43% of the attacks on whites. Statistically this changes everything. It equates to a very large percentage of attacks on whites being committed by blacks.

Another example is white rape of black women is so rare it almost doesn't exist. However black rape of white women is so common that it is an epidemic where there are predominantly blacks raping white women. If you were to read the newspapers or watch the cable or alphabet news stations you would never know this. Why? Is it intentionally being kept secret?

I got my college tuition free as a perk of my father's job. It's a pretty good way to keep excellent employees when you don't have a lot of freedom to hike salaries. The employees like it and are more likely to stay, and it has its greatest effect on employees whose kids' education is important, which are exactly the ones many employers would most like to retain.

The longest flight in time, not miles, was made by Quantas during world war 2. In WWII the Japanese captured Singapore and cut the Quantas airline route to the UK. Quantas took some Catalina flying boats, stripped them of all unneeded equipment, added extra gas tanks and flew them weekly across the Indian Ocean from Australia to Ceylon, a thirty hour trip.
