We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

After Texas school shooting, how can we inoculate ourselves against the next one?

Start by the doing the obvious: harden schools as targets by allowing teachers to arm themselves, reduce the number of entry points and allow classrooms to be locked from inside! It's just too easy! Banks do it, jewelry stores do it; why not schools?

And, NO, "armed "school resource officers" aren't enough...just more of the old,"wWhen seconds count, the cops are only minutes away!" In the Texas shooting, the nearest armed Resource officer responded "quickly": only took him 4 minutes! That four minute lapse only cost 10 dead!

Let's see what the common factor is in school shootings: They ALL involve teens.
So let's create some common sense teenager control. Not advocating a complete ban, just licensing, mandatory training for keeping them, registration, and of course a ban on assault teenagers.
They also tend to wear black clothing, so a complete ban on that is in order.
And they all happen at schools, so let's ban schools.

Why isn't the question "how can we inoculate ourselves against the next texting while driving death?" Or the next teen suicide? Or the next teen drug overdose? Or the next gang shooting in Democrat cities? Each of these kill far more teens than the occasional school shooting. Why do we allow, justify, ignore these and concentrate on the far less common nutcase school shooting?

The answer is simple; there is a left wing cabal who wants/needs gun control to insure their inexorable move towards a more repressive government. Simple as that. Give up your gun rights and you will be the next Venezuela. Don't believe it, just watch.

Do we really think this is the first time or that it is only the presidential candidate who has been spied on and sabotaged?
Did Romney in 2012 get shafted by Obama? Did the Republicans in house and senate races for years get spied on and our alphabet agencies spread lies and rumors about them? Why would we assume this was a one off event?

If Nixon had used currently employed government spooks "investigate' the other party, instead of retired spooks, all would be legal and it would have been a "good thing" to protect the dems. Nixon trying to keep good "secret investigations" and spies from Congress was just to protect democracy and protect lives.
The new democrat platform is "anti-corruption".

The FBI didn't need a million dollar paid "investigator" in the Hillary campaign to find out why there were $100+ million bribes for Uranium One russian collaboration and other sleeze, because the FBI leadership WAS the democrat party itself. paying for russian-originated propaganda. They only need to spy on those organizations they don't already belong to and on who'se behalf they work.

The FBI infiltrates and entraps political opponents, but fails to even take custody of the Dem's allegedly hacked computers? Agrees to destroy Hillary's hacked computer?

Where is weiner's laptop? Where is the Awan laptop, and the investigation of unfettered access to top secret congressional democrat files which may have gone to pakistan?

Hopefully, Trump will release all this skullduggery.

Following on from a number of discussions in posts and comments here, it's important to qualify this by noting that employment is only possible for people whose expected salary, whether based on desire or requirements, is in line with the economic benefit they provide to their employer. The difference has to be made up in some way.

Mother nature provides for that. Our government has short circuited that fix. Stop paying welfare to able bodied people. Let them sink or swim. Some will struggle, some will sink, most will do what they have to in order to eat regularly. They may even figure out that their employment and pay is based on the economic benefit they provide to their employer.

I also expected a fevered Zach response. Their job is to defend or obfuscate for obama, clinton and global worming, so this looked like a sure all-out Z-day.
Maybe they don't want to take any positions before the Inspector General's report comes out? After all, they have had to quickly go from "its tin-foil hat crazy to say Trump campaign was wiretapped", to "our government-paid spying by the FBI and CIA on the Trump campaign was a good thing" to protect the Trump campaign before and after the election.
Kind of like whiplash when too sudden.

My first Doberman helped raise orphaned baby birds and rabbits, licking the latter clean after a messy eye-dropper feeding.

Birds can't stay on a dog's back if the dog moves - all the slopes change as the legs move - so the photos are posed with a merely very tolerant dog.

I no longer take on orphan birds because they long ago changed the composition of Purina Cat Chow so it doesn't absorb milk.
