We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

What a hoot. Left wing policies are so popular until the wrong people have to pick up the tab.

Still . . . $276/hd doesn't sound that bad and I suspect the best way to deal with it is to make the annual raises $276 less than they would otherwise be.

I think (hope) that you missed the joke here. The loaded language of the piece and the absence of the usual note that the effort is being spear-headed by an out-and-out Socialist makes it clear that this news outlet is noncommittal on the question of whether or not this tax is a job-killer aimed at the productive members of society in favor of the government-dependent class. And that news outlet is FOX. Really? FOX being non-partisan on the issue of progressives vs. Real Americans, makers vs. takers, more taxes vs. lower taxes? Since when would FOX take this sort of position?

But read halfway down the article and the penny drops - this tax is aimed at Amazon, Amazon is owned by Jeff Bezos, Jeff Bezos owns the Washington Post, the Washington Post doesn't like Donald Trump, Donald Trump's most devout worshipper is FOX. And there you have it - any "principles" FOX seems to espouse go straight out the window when it comes to defending Dear Leader.

This is destructive socialism. Nothing more, nothing less. Don't read too much into this. This is a dingbat politicians who may actually believe they can use OPM to solve problems they created. The homeless problem is EASY to fix but our politicians completely lack the will to do so. It is easier for them to simply throw money at it while at the same time funneling that money to their cronies. Never let a crisis go to waste.

The reason Seattle has a homeless problem is that they spend $68,000,000 a year on the homeless already. Adding another $48,000,000 will probably get them another 7,000 homeless.

Hate crimes. What is missing is this applies to only specific hate crimes. It is really racism at it's core. It was designed to give power to minorities to punish white people they don't like or agree with. It is the equivalent of calling the cops to accuse your spouse of abuse and then faking the evidence so you can send him to jail.

There is something wrong with the whole John Brennan saga. He seems to be violently anti-American who was placed in a high governmental position. If he is a communist spy/sympathizer he seems to have forgotten to keep this fact a secret. He is openly anti-government, anti-constitution and anti-American. Why and how has he gotten away with this for so long with so little reporting on it?

It seems a baby was killed during the Gaza protests.

While there is much noise from the media over this, there seems to be a complete lack of curiosity in even asking what a baby was doing anywhere near these demonstrations in the first place.
