Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

My mother, back in the '30's, moved to the west coast from the prairies for nursing training. The first year she wast there, she was out walking and came upon some of these plants. They're not native to the prairies so she picked a few blossoms to take back to her room. She never made that mistake again, though she laughed about it many years later.

Why are there no leaves on the trees? LOL

CA native here.......was living in NNJ, my ex was from Buffalo......driving the Southern Tier to Buffalo one Memorial Day W/E @ 20 years ago.....I recall wondering...."Holy Cr*p! Here it is end of May and the trees are JUST NOW leafing out!!!!"

CA is becoming a s*** hole, no doubt....But there are other places where the trees green up by April or so.
