Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Re: "You don't want your son being a steel worker I assume."
I really don't see how that's a "condescending" question any more than asking a buggy-whip manufacturer in 1910 if he wanted his son to follow in his footsteps. I realize that a union boss might not be the one to ask about the future of his industry, especially if you're familiar with what the short-sightedness of the UAW did to Detroit, but you'd think that a guy who's aware of how tough things are in the domestic steel industry might care enough about his own family to encourage his son to pursue a more modern career. (Although to be fair he didn't say what job his son was hired for, I suppose his son might have an advanced degree in Computer Science and had been hired as an IT manager.) Careful, there. I have an engineering degree, am an IT manager, and I work in a factory. None of that is mutually exclusive.
There are some processes that by there nature are going to be hot, noisy, and dusty, but I'd venture to say that there's little in common in today's manufacturing with the images from the 1950s or earlier. My son was being bullied in the 9th grade so so we signed him up for one of the more practical martial arts over the summer. In the 10th grade he had 3 fights he didn't start but finished, 2 suspensions and was left alone from there on.
So yeah...I agree. Great for boys. Not so good for girls. Girls are nastier in social ways not in physical ways. There is no 'martial arts' for that kind of thing.
You really just have to make it through the gauntlet and rely on your family and the friends you do have to get you through. But for some girls, it can be a very lonely, horrible time with no real solution. "Mexican flags fly at San Diego anti-Trump rally"
This highlights the problem with the dreamers or other illegals. They aren't American, they are Mexican and are quite content to stay Mexican but want to live here and enjoy the benefits. This "mistake" of demonstrating their real allegiance has happened before and then in following demonstrations someone handed out American flags and told the protestors to not where Mexican traditional clothing. It cleaned up the look but it was spin or false news. The simple fact is everyone one of these illegal aliens from Mexico is a Mexican citizen. The MSM would have you beleive that they are people without a country or afraid to go back to where they were born and this simply isn't true. They are Mexican citizens with extended families in Mexico and they do go back when they want to and feel quite at home in their homeland. What they are looking for is the free stuff that America hands out like candy on Halloween. The "dreamer" agenda is a farce. The purpose is to portray these "children" in a sympathetic way to get the U.S. to give them citizenship/amnesty which they will immediately use to bring in (or make legal those already here) other family members. It is a bait and switch bunko game trying to play the U.S. A classic case of give them an inch and they will take a mile. HRC is alienating not just 'deplorables' and the right, but Dems too.
I'm not sure I heard him correctly - he's difficult to listen to - but Perez was on with Brett Baier last night and when asked about Hillary's comments he walked away from them, even went so far as to acknowledge that Trump is POTUS and assert that the Dem's focus needs to be on driving their agenda and thwarting Trump's. She is increasingly isolating herself from any meaningful engagement in public life. Time for more yoga and a couple more grandkids from Chelsea. Frankly I'm enjoying the Heifer's whining.
She should do it more. A lot more and often. Me as well. Very satisfying to see your defeated opponent so miserable, especially this one.
She is a ''Merry Christmas gift'' for the repubbies. As along as they [Dims] let her be relevant. She is just another 'definition' of our great two party system.
Well.....he kind of walked away, maybe. But not without emphasizing repeatedly that while Trump is president, Hillary actually won the popular vote, you know. I went to a NASCAR race last week, and I should have won it. I feel like I did. Because, you know, I drove there.
Timing. Gotta have timing. It is my humble opinion that Pres. Trump fired Tillerson at the worst possible time! He should have waited until after the very delicate election in Pennsylvania. Firing the one guy who had the image of stability and balance the day before the Pennsylvania election pushed the nerves on more than 500 voters.
And by the way. here is how not, and to load your motorcycle into the back of a pickup.
http://bitsandpieces.us/2018/03/how-to-load-a-motorcycle/ I have hated daylight savings time since my kids were toddlers. It seemed that every time we got them into a sleep routine, we would be jumping forward or backward and hour to mess that up.
End the madness. I agree ! How do we get this changed at our local state legislature?
re New York Governor Andrew Cuomo Takes Part in Anti-Gun Die-In Protest – Surrounded by Armed Guards
I am thinking Cuomo, like most politicians, lack any sense of self-awareness. re Hillary ’08 Campaign Manager: Her Latest “Deplorables” Comments Were Pretty Bad, Huh
One gets the impression that HRC has blamed others for her shortcomings her entire life. Her comments are interesting insights on her character. |
