INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ARE KEEPING COMMUNITY COLLEGES AFLOAT

Leftist Ponzi schemes are failing, so they've doubled down and are accelerating the destruction of W. Civ.

Well, maybe that was the original scheme, so it's not failing.

Nevertheless, flooding colleges and universities w/ foreign students is a blight on everyone.

The story got it partly wrong. The community colleges are supposed to get exactly the same funding from in-state, out of state and foreign students. The difference between them being that the taxpayer in the state pays the difference between in-state tuition and out of state tuition. A similar situation exists for foreign students in that the tax payer pats the difference between American students and foreign students. However the states drop the ball in the relationship by funding the community college based on student numbers without adequate differentiation between those American students vs foreign students. Therefore the college is inappropriately rewarded by the existence of the foreign students. This creates an incentive for the college to actively recruit foreign students. The state is at fault here and the state must fix it by either not funding foreign students at all or clawing back the tuition that foreign students pay to level the admissions playing field.

IMHO American colleges should serve Americans first. If the college turns away any American applicants it should not be allowed to enroll any foreign students at all.

Sovereign states are not obliged to permit the entry of foreign nationals on their soil. Remember Yusuf Islam (formerly Cat Stevens) being refused admittance to the US? This simple reality is of course being ignored by one side in the debate over illegal immigrants in the US.

I have relatives in southern Ontario who get all grumpy now because it's just a little more difficult for Canadians to cross the US border (though personally, I've never found it to be a problem at all; of course, my car does sport veteran's plates which, God bless them, US border officials rarely fail to politely acknowledge). But no amount of civics lecturing from me ("You're not an American citizen or a legal resident there; you have no inherent right to enter their country") will persuade my family otherwise.

Still, over at that link, Lucianne does rightly contrast the treatment of Lauren Southern with that of Islamic extremists on welfare in the UK. Unfortunately, most of those extremists hold an ace card that Southern does not: they're British citizens.

(By the way, as a more traditionally-minded Canadian, I've never considered myself a foreigner in Britain - or Australia and New Zealand, for that matter. Pip! Pip! For the Empire!)

I feel badly for back pain guy, but it was his fault he showed up with only some of his pills. If I knew I would have a 'pill count' of this kind and it would determine whether or not I could continue on my pain medication, I'd be SO CAREFUL.

Also, I'm confused by this stuff...I just read a scientific study that said there was no real difference in pain relief between opioids and less addictive pain relievers. So which is it?

Are these pain killers 'necessary' or not? When you end up with confusing information like this, no wonder opioid users are being looked at.

To me, any drug that is this addictive, should not be in a bottle on someone's shelf at home. Too risky. Maybe pain meds of this type should be restricted to in-hospital or in-hospice use only.

I would also like to see docs & pharmacies cleaned up. Use statistics to find those who are likely not prescribing for actual pain...should be easy enough to find.

You are missing the point. There is zero reason for criminal drug misuse to negatively impact legal and necessary drug use. This is the fault of our politicians and a few anti-pharma activists. Very few patients on pain meds become addicted while using their medicine as prescribed. This is a fairy tale promoted by an anti-pharma agenda. Most drug abusers get into it directly and not from innocently getting hooked on drugs prescribed to them. This war on legal and legitimate use of pain medication is a travesty and will do nothing to stop illegal drug use.

As someone who deals with pain and has a bottle of percocet and oxycodone sitting on my bureau I worried when I saw the drum beat to take away pain medication. My need for them varies and a good week is when I don't use them at all. But sometimes the pain is too great to be able to sleep and I really need them. Therefore my actual usage is different from my prescribed dosage. Why should that be the government's business?

Did you raise your daughter to be a b*&ch? Did you think it would make her strong? Did you believe she should be free to act anyway she wanted simply because some guys do? If you are a dad, did you think it was cute watching your "little girl" be a b*&ch? Did you enable her corruption by not speaking up against this behavior? Did you work as hard to imprint her with a code of decent behavior as you did your son? "Daddy's little girl" isn't cute any more--now what, now that she's a middle aged woman and no one wants to be around her--now what are you gonna do dad? You know of course she pulls any dirty trick she wants to in the work place -- you do know that don't you? Now what when the liberals tell her it's her right? What are you gonna do now that every member of the city council is a woman with the same sense of right(s), with the same poor level of intellectual accomplishment--because way back in college when she was in a sorority she didn't rally have to study--just memorize the test answers that last year's sorority sisters copied and passed on to the next generation of "sisters". How did you stand up to all of that "daddy dearest"?

Britons should become use to paying coin and flesh taxes to their masters.

Problem: thousands of children, daughters, abducted and sold into slavery or murdered by foreigners brought in the by the government and given welfare by the government.
Solution #1: politely ask no more importation of foreigners. Fails.
Solution #2: ask no more welfare for non-citizens. Fails.
Solution #3: ask law be enforced against criminals. Fails.
Solution #4: Robespierre, Marat, St. Just are starting to look like reasonable guys.

Oh wait, the British gave away their right to bear arms.
