We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
"Yes, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
and mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess within the vail,
a life of joy and peace.
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
the sun forbear to shine;
But God, who call’d me here below,
will be forever mine."
Lines from a hymn by John Newton, a former slave ship captain, who, after turning to Christ, wrote other hymns, including "Amazing Grace".
This is a hint as to why you should go to church, that, with God's grace, you might have a similsr faith.
The article is too passive, showing the practical benefits of attending church. I don't see how these are convincing reasons to go to church.
I'm a believer who started from the point of view that the world is so magical that it couldn't possibly be limited to just this earthly realm. But what really got to me was when I found myself in a really difficult time and asked God for a miracle and he granted it. I think if you read the Gospels, esp Matthew, which are full of miracles, you can appreciate that Christianity isn't a pragmatic religion. It's about things that are much deeper.
Serps then began utilizing complicated rating algorithm, which have been tough for the webmasters to manipulate in order to supply web surfers with genuine results. The rank of the net page was calculated mathematically by capabilities utilizing power and amount of the inbound links. The higher the rank of the web page the more probabilities it needed to be seen by a person. Later algorithms have been developed which considered varied different on-page factors such as rank and off-web page factors akin to hyperlink. Because the webmasters couldn?t manipulate the page rank, they began exchanging, promoting and shopping for links, which result in link spamming and even creation of quite a few sites devoted for this purpose.
I agree with your statement about churches today. They tend to make up new feel good ideas to follow instead of biblical teachings to pull in the moderns. We used to attend every Sunday but have dropped to about once a month for communion and religious holidays. It is very discouraging to those of us that need and want to go to church.
A psychological puff piece, indeed. Sadly, according to Pew Research, a huge bulk of American Christians reject the Trinity, 30% don't believe that there is only one true God, 60% think all forms of worship are valid, 30% don't believe Hell exists, 2/3 of Catholics and mainline Protestants support gay marriage, and over 1/3 of Evangelicals are in the same boat. Yes, it goes on and on, preaching a gospel which the Word of God condemns. So maybe it would be safer to stay home and simply read the Bible and pray with your family than to attend a professing Christian church where the gospel is not preached, methinks.
