We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

 Let’s put it this way: if this sort of thing had gone on under President Trump or even George W. Bush, the Times would have announced the news in front-page headlines so large it would have taken two strong men just to carry the letters to the press room. An enormous collection of Times reportage on the subject—with a black cover and some title like “The Path to Tyranny”—would have been on the bookstore shelves within the month.

Having children: optimistic people tend to have more children. I took a flyer on oppressor versus victim, rescuer, and mixed nations (based on WWII behavior) over a decade ago. https://assistantvillageidiot.blogspot.com/2006/04/oppression-and-birthrate.html

I would change some things in that essay now, but I still think it captures something about who decides to have children.

I'm surprised the media doesn't see already that they are destroying themselves with all of this fake news reporting or absence of reporting over what really went on behind the scenes in the Obama administration. And that one memo is just a tiny part of it. There is a LOT more to come.

And because the media has been complicit for YEARS (yes years) in covering for the left, their 'correction' will be much worse than the current stock market correction over the last few days. The 'correction' will likely take them out completely and leave them in a burning, smoking mass.

But yet they continue on to their own destruction. It wouldn't be hard to just actually REPORT the news without a lot of bias. They could do it. They just refuse to. Which tells me they have a lot to lose if all the information comes out...the corruption they helped cover up, the money they were paid, the sympathies they have for anti-American groups and people. It's gonna get ugly.

Bring it on.

There are only two possibilities: 1. They see themselves fighting the good fight against the right wing, pro-constitution, pro-America, pro-truth, justice and the American way. OR 2. They have indeed gone over to the dark side and joined with those who would destroy us.

People deciding not to have kids for any reason is a self-solving problem.

As for the Yale class on Happiness, I think I deserve an "A+" for not attending, because that makes me happiest.

Do they not see the irony in a former house of worship being converted into a lecture hall for an easy A in "happiness"?

The subject of happiness is a favorite of mine. Not least because I'm convinced that many people either don't understand what it is or don't want to actually it. The first class should explain that happiness is not the point of life. The sooner you realize that, the more satisfied you will become.

Jordan Peterson hits the nail on the head when it comes to happiness.
