Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

"UNC-Charlotte, along with outside organizations like Planned Parenthood, is co-sponsoring the school's first-ever 'Sex Week,' featuring events like 'f*** like your life depends on it' and 'cookies and condoms.'"
Quite beyond how bizarre that all sounds, given the current climate regarding sexual harassment, any man would have to be nuts to get involved in such an event. "The Humiliation of Aziz Ansari"
This is the kind of drama and attention seeking that is toxic (toxic femininity) and belongs on facebook not on the national news. What is instructive is the ease and eagerness in which these woman shout "me too" and eagerly destroy a man's life. Remember that when you are looking at a "she said, he said" case where the man faces jail time if he loses and the women faces nothing if she lied. Anyone have a free link for the first cite above? WSJ is paywalled.
Is it possible for humans to have a transcendent moral code if they no longer believe in an afterlife?
Nope. You can have a code to live by, but not necessarily a transcendent one. Or can you? The article seems to attribute God to man's creation, rather than the other way around, yet at the conclusion, there seems to be a hope that something or someone will save us. If man makes the rules, man can change the rules, so it devolves to who has the most power. Look how much our culture has changed in the last 50 years. The same people pushing the change, demand to make the rules, tolerance and humility are no where to be found. "You can have a code to live by, but not necessarily a transcendent one."
You cannot have a transcendent anything if you don't believe in something beyond the limits of human experience. Trump is responsible for the growing economy as well as shrinking the size and scope of government, according to yesterday's (15th) Daily Wire.
"Trump in just his first year has cut Health and Human Services by 0.5%, Defense by 1.1%, Transportation by 1.4%, Justice by 1.5%, Energy by 2.3%, Commerce by 3.1%, Housing and Urban Development by 3.3%, State by 3.8%, Labor by 4.6% Education by 4.8%, and Treasury by a whopping 7.5%." A thriving bureaucracy only helps the corrupt hide behind the cast of thousands willing to lie for them to keep their jobs. Expect more cuts to come as PDJT streamlines and determines what and who is necessary to implement policies within The Constitution's description of executive powers. Education is a state's right. HUD is the most corrupt agency I've encountered; Ben Carson has the patience of Job. re Is Facebook 'Championing' Blasphemy Laws Across Europe?
My question is this, why are libs and Muslims free to say anything they like on Facebook and Twitter while the "shitty" people are censored? It strikes me as just as discriminatory as allowing the whey people to eat at the lunch counter while refusing to seat the gingers. It looks to me like the "shitty" people are having their civil rights violated. Why isn't this a huge legal case waiting to happen? QUOTE: Former Twitter Content Review Agent Mo Norai explains banning process: “if it was a pro-Trump thing and I’m anti-Trump… I banned his whole account… it’s at your discretion” https://www.projectveritas.com/2018/01/11/undercover-video-twitter-engineers-to-ban-a-way-of-talking-through-shadow-banning-algorithms-to-censor-opposing-political-opinions/When asked if banning process was an unwritten rule, Norai adds “Very. A lot of unwritten rules… It was never written it was more said” . . . . . . “Yeah. That’s something we’re working on. It’s something we’re working on. We’re trying to get the shitty people to not show up. It’s a product thing we’re working on right now.” Facebook Bans Bestselling Author over 'The Scandalous Presidency of Barack Obama' https://pjmedia.com/trending/facebook-bans-bestselling-author-ad-scandalous-presidency-barack-obama/ When I was a lad, me and the gang would often spend our days on the vacant lot across the street. It involved dirt clods, sticks, forts, every toy we had, and all sorts of goings on occurred there. The alliances and games and rules were always in flux. Nothing was planned, everything was possible, the directed play was emergent and always evolving. After all, there was no way to know if our current game was any good except by changing it. Nobody set the rules, we changed them. Calvinball!
One day the neighbor girl (our age or a little older) showed up, and seeing our fun and enthusiasm, started bulling her way into our games. Started laying down a whole bunch of rules and regulations. We could see she was eager and friendly, and we knew she had a good heart and all, but she wrecked it. She didn't know or care to know how it was done. She wanted it done her way. It was chalk on a blackboard, a needle scratch across a record. We sorta tried to accommodate her, but it was no use, we didn't have the heart for it. That day we learned about the Bossy Girl. That's what we called her. It came unbidden to our lips. The old vacant lot was never the same again. We took our play elsewhere, out of sight and reach of the bossy girl. Remember that, metoo'istas and sjws. The more you tighten your grip, the more us men will slip through your fingers, and find better things to do elsewhere, that don't involve you. Sabina Puértolas
Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity. My father, a WW II vet, used to say "it's better to be lucky than good". He wasn't entirely joking, either.
I’ve thought for years only an insane person would run for president, or for that matter, kill someone in cold blood. That doesn’t mean completely sane people do either of those things or perhaps both.
Calling Trump insane is simply name calling without any legitimate basis, nothing more. Ah. Re: the progressive socialist democratic people's republic of UWM:
That's one of Alinsky's rules: Make them live by their own rules, because they can't possibly. That's a dangerous one, though, because it encourages them to keep doubling down. They have to break down and give up before they break you first. |
