We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
What’s so frustrating about these election spectacles is that they have nothing to do with creating the good life. For that we have to look elsewhere, such as the newly emerging light we are seeing on the economic horizon. For the first time in decades, there is a chance that the job market is becoming active again, that incomes will rise, that inflation is solidly tamed, that the young generation will have new opportunities, that new products and inventions will continue to improve our lives.
None of this has anything to do with smears, epic struggles, revenge fantasies, and winner-take-all scenarios. ..
L. Sprague de Camp, RIP, one of our greatest writers demonstrated in "The Ancient Engineers" that politicians impede progress and engineers are the sole source of improvement in human economics and hence life.
And by engineers he meant any kind of technical thinker or doer, including and especially the eternal Borlaug.
Why we don't have the good sense to kill all the Pelosis and Schumers is beyond me.
In the long run history will not judge Norman Borlaug kindly. Borlaug, along with Haber & Bosch, are principally responsible for mass overpopulation of the human species. Borlaug invented the plants, and Haber/Bosch invented the fertilizer. Without the the population of humans on Earth would probably never have exceeded 2 Billion.
I'm not sure I'd phrase my response as abruptly as Kauf Buch, above, but the meaning would be the same.
The Left plays to win, and win they have over the past 100 years - since President Wilson, at least.
Now the Left has metastasized into outright malevolence and seeks, in concert with those on the Right enamored of the State as the solution to everything, to overthrow our Republic. They are no longer subtle about it, either, it's right out there in the open. Their disagreement with the President has plainly become sedition.
That said, the old terms - "Left" and "Right" - no longer apply. By their actions, we can more plainly, and accurately, label them as "Seditionists".
They are plainly not interested in collegiality, and they are obviously not interested in our political norms. Politics became blood sport at about the same time the Islamist threat to the nation emerged in public - the Right's blood, not the Left's. Yet, there are many commentators who shrink from the obvious.
The Seditionists are rotten to the core. Their principles are rotten, their protagonists are rotten, and the actions they take are meant to destroy our country and its traditions.
The Right needs to fight to win. We've just begun to do so. To borrow a rough analogy, it's early 1862. Gettysburg is a long way off, the Wilderness even further. But we have, at least, begun to take the first steps down that road to victory. "Join, or get out of the way"!
In the last 20 years or so there has been a quickening by the left in their surge to seize power and absorb/redistribute our wealth. The surge in immigration, legal and illegal is a big part of that plan. This is the far left socialist/communist agenda and for what ever reason they intend to accelerate it now. Trump was an unexpected and terrible roadblock to their plans. Watch them as they pull off a palace coup and push that roadblock out of the way. We must follow Venezuela and Cuba into Nirvana and failure is not an option...
That "hard right" referenced are merely regular folks - unlike the
A) ideologically-imprisoned, delusional libertarians and
B) utterly corrupted GOP-establishmentarians - who
1) refuse to do the knee-jerk reflexive "liberal hand-wringing" of appearing "impolite" to the Left, who would happily have them killed off, and
2) have no reservations about showing self-respect and - gasp! - self-preservation interests.
The corruption of the news media & academia is at the root of most of the problem. The left/admin state have been made to feel invincible & unaccountable, and the opposition now feels entitled to respond bluntly with "fuck you!" or "burn it down!"
Unfortunate what little twerps like Glenn Thrush, Paul Krugman et al have done to the country.
